‘RHOC’: Vicki Gunvalson Answers Whether She Is Returning for Season 14
The original housewife had a rough time last season having to go from a housewife to a friend on Real Housewives of Orange County (RHOC.) There is a question of whether Vicki Gunvalson will be back next season in the same position. This is what she had to say and more.
Vicki Gunvalson was demoted for season 13 of ‘RHOC’
Many fans were probably shocked to find out that Gunvalson wasn’t going to be a housewife in season 13. She was demoted to the role as a friend.
She wrote in an Instagram post, “For the past 14 years I’ve opened up my life, my loves, my ups and downs on The Real Housewives of Orange County and I am proud to be the ‘OG of the OC’. I am back again this season right in the middle of the action in a different role. I hope you have as much fun watching the show as I did living it in front of the cameras. Stay tuned to Bravo August 6th for more of the Tres Amigas.”
Andy Cohen reportedly told her to be happy after this change. “I talked to [Andy Cohen] last night, because I said, ‘What do I say?’ He said, ‘You know what, nobody has ever lasted 14 years on a reality show, be happy and proud of that.’ And I’m still in,” Gunvalson said on Jerry O.
She said she won’t return in a smaller role again
Fans shouldn’t expect to see Gunvalson as a friend again. She talked about putting her foot down.
“First of all, when they told me I was going to have a reduced role, I said, ‘I’m never a Friend. I started this franchise. I’m never going to be a Friend.’ They said, ‘We’ll never use those words.’ And they’ve been using those words,” Gunvalson told Entertainment Tonight. “I will never come back part-time. I’m either all in or all out. I’m not a part-time girl.”
There was a report that she had a meltdown at the reunion. This might have helped her chances of coming back as a full-time cast member.
“Vicki is going to be coming back as a full-time housewife next season,” a source told Radar Online. “She gave Bravo an ultimatum. She said she would only come back if she were full-time, and they agreed.”
There was reportedly a deal that if she dropped her lawsuit against Bravo and Kelly Dodd, then she could return. “One of the reasons Vicki dropped the lawsuit was because she negotiated a deal that she would return to the show,” an insider said.
Gunvalson said she doesn’t know if she is returning
It looks like the original star’s future on the show isn’t clear. She was asked if there are any plans yet for her to return.
“I have no idea,” Gunvalson told Page Six. “I have no idea what’s going to happen next year.” She was then asked what her tagline would be if she did return. Gunvalson answered, “My crown is tilted!”
One thing seems certain and that’s Gunvalson doesn’t want to be anything less than a full-time cast member. We will have to wait and see if she’ll get what she wants next season.
