‘RHONJ’: Teresa Giudice’s Daughter Delivers a Shocking Ultimatum to Joe Giudice: ‘You Will Not Have a Relationship With Me’
The Real Housewives of New Jersey has a new plot point now: Joe Giudice’s deportation. Earlier this year, it was learned that Teresa Giudice’s husband would be deported immediately after he finished serving his 41-month prison sentence for fraud. Since then, he’s been working hard to gain citizenship and have a relationship with his wife and daughters again. But one person who is not taking it lightly is his oldest daughter, Gia Giudice.
Joe and Teresa both served prison time for committing fraud
In 2013, Joe and Teresa were arrested on allegations that they committed mail, wire, and tax fraud, as well as allegedly lied on loan applications. The trial became a major plot point on the show, and Teresa and Joe were both found guilty of their crimes in 2014. Teresa was sentenced to 11 months in prison, which she served in 2015. In early 2016, Joe surrendered himself to federal prison to start his 41-month sentence. That sentence was completed earlier this year, but Joe was not a free man.
Joe learned earlier this year that he would be deported after his sentence
Joe and the family learned earlier this year that a judge had ordered his deportation immediately following his release from prison. Joe and Teresa have four daughters together, all of whom reside at their family home in New Jersey. Rather than get deported, Joe and his family decided to appeal the ruling. However, in April 2019, his appeal was denied. Then, in September 2019, Joe’s bond request was also denied. He’s been having a difficult time with the deportation, though his family continues to fight. Joe is currently living in Italy while his lawyers try to reach a deal with immigration.
Gia says her father ‘will not have a relationship with me’ if he doesn’t continue fighting
RHONJ’s 11th season premiered on November 6, and a major point of conversation was Joe’s appeal. Gia and her younger sisters sat in the kitchen with their mother and grandfather, and Gia vented about the frustration that comes with having her father miss out on so many life events (prom and high school graduation to name a few).
In the episode, Gia showed frustration during her interview over the fact that her father never became a citizen. She said it was something that “should have been done” years ago. In the kitchen with her family, Gia said that it’s Joe’s time to step up and show his daughters how much he loves them. She added, shockingly, that he either needs to keep fighting for his citizenship or he “will not have a relationship with me.”
Teresa and her daughters left to visit their father in Italy on November 6
Though the season premiere was filmed several months ago, Teresa and the girls clearly still do have a relationship with Joe. Teresa and her four daughters left for Italy on November 6 to pay Joe a visit, and Gia posted the family’s reunion photo to Instagram. It’s unclear yet whether Joe will ever be able to come back to the United States, but it could be a long road before that happens.
