Jennifer Aydin from ‘RHONJ’ Claps Back at ‘RHONY’ Alum Bethenny Frankel After Major Shade
Bethenny Frankel, the former star of The Real Housewives of New York City, threw major shade at Jennifer Aydin from The Real Housewives of New Jersey. When the latter made an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live a viewer asked about the comment. Aydin’s response was an epic takedown that even Andy Cohen gasped.
The crossover happened when the official Instagram page of WWHL posted a clip of Aydin. In the RHONJ scene, the housewife is heard saying that she’s a “comedian” and a “funny girl,” something that Frankel might not agree with.
“I’m a funny girl. I’m a comedian and I get off on making people laugh,” Aydin told her co-star Margaret Josephs in the clip.
The former RHONY star saw the video and replied with the comment, “Said nobody funny about themselves ever.”
When Aydin went on the Bravo late-night show, a viewer called asking about the social media feud and the housewife did not hold back.
“I would say she’s absolutely right. The things I say… said no one over,” Aydin replied.
However, she was not done with her response just yet as she threw back a little shade of her own.
“Didn’t she leave Housewives to like bigger and better things? I mean, if she wants to make a Tales from the Crypt comeback, I’m sure she can get cast members,” Aydin said while Cohen called them “fighting words.”
“She can get Margaret to join her cast and then call me in 10 years and let me know if I’m funny or not sweetheart,” Aydin added.
Why did Bethenny Frankel leave ‘RHONY’?
Ahead of season 12 of RHONY, Frankel announced she was leaving the reality show.
“I have decided to leave the ‘Housewives’ franchise to explore my next chapter,” Frankel said in a statement via Variety. “It’s time to move on and focus on my daughter, my philanthropy and my production partnership with Mark Burnett, producing and starring in shows which represent a shift in the conversation for women. With the changes in modern culture, I want to highlight the strength, confidence and unstoppable power that women have.”
This marked the second time the entrepreneur left the Bravo series in pursuit of other opportunities. In the same statement, she said how grateful she was with the network that launched her into stardom.
“My experience at Bravo has been an incredibly magical ride. I am so grateful to them for highlighting my entrepreneurialism and allowing me to pave the way for many women to achieve their goals. I am excited for my future. The best is yet to come,” she added.
Bethenny Frankel on her ‘RHONY’ past
Following her departure from RHONY, Frankel says that her past as a housewife has hurt her as a businesswoman.
“The network and the production company looked at me like a housewife and like I wouldn’t be able to keep up,” she told Entertainment Tonight in an interview. “They said, ‘You know these are very serious business people?’ and I said, ‘Uhhh, OK. I’ve been on the cover of a small magazine called Forbes. I might be able to hang, too.’”
However, the Skinnygirl founder has always felt like an underdog and that only motivates her to push through.
“I do think that having been on the Housewives has brought me so many amazing gifts and such an amazing platform, but at the same [time], it’s hard to go into an arena like Shark Tank and be taken seriously as a housewife,” Frankel added. “I somehow always manage to get back to being the underdog. No matter what I do, I get back to being the underdog and I’m comfortable there. I like being in uncharted territory.”
It will be sometime in 2020 when Frankel returns to television.
