‘RHONJ’: When Will Teresa Giudice Visit Her Husband Joe in Italy?
Arrivederci, Joe. The husband of Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice is back in his native Italy after failing to secure permission to remain in the U.S. with his family while his immigration case is resolved.
Joe Giudice had asked to be released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody to be with his wife and four daughters. That request was denied. He then asked to be released to return to Italy while awaiting a judge’s final decision on his immigration appeal, a request that was approved.
Joe Giudice has been separated from his family for years
It’s been years since Teresa and Joe have been able to live together as a family. First, she served 11 months in prison for her role in the couple’s fraud case. Then, Joe spent 41 months in prison. He completed his sentence in March but was immediately transferred to ICE custody after his release because as a non-U.S. citizen, he was subject to deportation after being convicted of a felony.
Joe still hopes that he may win his appeal and eventually be allowed to return to the U.S. But in the meantime, he is living in Italy where he hopes to start earning money to help support his family.
“We are still fighting and it is his desire to return home to the United States to be reunited with his family,” his lawyer James Leonard told Us Weekly.
Teresa Giudice is planning to visit her husband
Joe left the U.S. on October 11, according to Us Weekly, which reported that he spoke to Teresa and his daughter Gia from the plane. The reality TV star is also planning a trip to Italy to see her husband.
“Teresa already has a trip to Italy planned. She’ll be taking all her girls,” a source told the magazine. “Teresa and all the girls will be visiting sooner rather than later. It’s fast approaching.”
Joe and Teresa’s 18-year-old daughter Gia seemed to confirm that a trip to Europe to see her father was in works in a recent Instagram post.
So happy [you’re] together right now.. enjoy see you in a few weeks daddy,” Gia captioned a photo of her dad and his brother Pete. The trip is planned for early November, sources told TMZ.
The time apart has reportedly strained the Giudice’s marriage. Teresa confessed in a clip for the upcoming season of RHONJ that she doesn’t know if she still loves her husband. “I just want to be happy again,” she said.
Joe has the support of another reality TV star
Photos of Joe since his release from ICE custody show that the 47-year-old slimmed down during his time behind bars. And he appears to be keeping up his training regimen based on a video his daughter shared of him during a martial arts practice with his brother.
Joe’s transformation has attracted positive comments, including from one other reality TV star who also got fit in prison.
“The comeback is always greater than the Setback 💪🏼 Sending Positive vibes 🙏” wrote Jersey Shore’s Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino on one of Gia’s posts. Sorrentino recently completed an eight-month sentence for tax evasion.
According to TMZ, Joe is currently living near Salerno with his extended family and eagerly awaiting a visit from his wife and children.
