‘RHONY’: Leah McSweeney is Replacing Bethenny Frankel and Fans are Oddly Here for It
Though this isn’t Frankel’s first time leaving the franchise, she originally departed after season three and didn’t return until season seven, this exit seems a little more final.
Frankel’s goodbye message
When news broke that Frankel was leaving, she took to Instagram to address her exit.
“I wanted to take a moment to write a personal note to you,” she captioned an image of her from the show. “I am so grateful to you for sticking with me through everything. You started this journey with me in my tiny apartment in my late 30s, wondering what would happen to me. I was broke, single, had no family and no idea what the future held.”
She went on to thank her fans for helping her grow.
“I had big dreams and I never stopped, but I honestly didn’t know if I would ever get here. You helped me to get here. I would read your letters and messages and grow from your struggles. You would give me your honest opinion about my products and projects and helpful advice about divorce, relationships, motherhood, miscarriages, health, and surviving the death of a loved one and almost my own. You have shared your ideas with me and I have been inspired by and learned from you.”
“I am fortunate to have created a business and career that some people only dream of. I had a beautiful baby girl, who is now 9 years old, and she has changed me as a human being. I was able to give back and help people all over the world who have been hit with the worst of unforeseen circumstances, which we will all continue together.”
She closed with a word of encouragement to all of the fans who had been watching her religiously on RHONY.
“GO for it,” she closed. “Whatever it is. Reach for your dreams in life and love and make the impossible happen, because it can happen and it WILL happen. Come from a place of yes and it’s yours for the taking.”
“Thank you so much for your love and support. And stay tuned, you haven’t seen the last of me. There are many amazing things to come. I love you all and am so lucky to have you in my life! PS: New York City is still my playground.”
Who’s replacing Frankel?
Whenever a housewife leaves the show, people always wonder who is going to fill their shoes.
According to Entertainment Tonight, entrepreneur and founder of streetwear brand Married to the Mob, Leah McSweeney will be joining RHONY this season.
“Leah is a friend of Tinsley [Mortimer’s] and the two have already filmed a workout scene together,” a source told the outlet.
It is unknown how big of a role McSweeney will have on the show.
How do fans feel about McSweeney joining ‘RHONY’?
Replacements are never easy and fans are quick to let the internet know when they are unhappy with a casting switch.
“Nobody can replace Bethenny…and who in the h*ll is Leah McSweeney?” one fan tweeted.
But most people seemed to be excited about the newest housewife.
“Beyond hyped Leah McSweeney is new RHONY cast…started her clothing brand from a payout over police knocking her teeth in on the subway floor…can’t wait to see her drama,” one person wrote.
“After Anthony Bourdain’s death, Leah McSweeney called Asia Argento and her enablers out on Twitter and IG and I loved her for it,” another fan said. “She is fearless. And her article on toxic femininity was fabulous. Real Housewife? Oh, she won’t disappoint.”
And while other fans aren’t necessarily ecstatic about McSweeney joining the cast, they are still interested to see how she will fit into the show.
“Although I’m not the biggest fan of Leah McSweeney, (rumored #RHONY newbie) FUN FACT: she sued the NYPD for beating her up and won $75k that helped her start her MTTM clothing line. Also, she has a daughter with Rob Cristofaro ( from Alife ),” one person revealed.
