‘RHONY’: Luann de Lesseps’ Shares Her Secret to Sobriety and Breaks Big News About Her Probation
Luann de Lesseps from The Real Housewives of New York City has found a way to stay sober thanks to Heineken Zero. The cabaret singer told Jenny McCarthy on SiriusXM’s “The Jenny McCarthy Show” that dealing with the women on the show is harder than being sober.
“Being sober is the easy part,” she joked. “But dealing with, you know, it’s difficult to live under the microscope as it is. But then to not have your friends help you out is even worse.”
During her appearance on the show, de Lesseps shared what it is like to deal with addiction. Plus, when she appeared on the Jerry O’ Show she broke news about her probation.
She drinks nonalcoholic beer to stay sober
McCarthy wanted to know what was in her sobriety toolbox. “I’ll have a mocktail,” she shared. “You know what I’ve gotten into is Heineken Zero so I feel like I’m having a beer. I like beer in the summer because it’s cold and thirst-quenching. So I’ll have a Heineken Zero so I feel like I’m drinking and I’ll vape too! I’ll take a puff on a vape and get through the moment.”
“You think it’s so big and then if you give it a second it goes away and then you can deal with it,” she said. She also described what she goes through when it comes to trying to stay sober.
“It’s like you go to the beach and stand in the ocean and the wave is coming and it’s like, ‘Oh my God, here it comes!’ And then it comes and it breaks and it goes away,” she describes. “So do those feelings. So if you can just give yourself a deep breath and a minute to be like, ‘It’s OK. I feel this way. It’s alright to feel this way. It’s OK to want to drink because that’s — you have been doing this your whole life. So take a deep breath and you know, reach for that mocktail.’”
She also shares this news about her probation
When de Lesseps appeared on the Jerry O’ Show, she gave an update about her probation. She recounted what she’s endured such as her divorce, jail, and probation. “It’s been a crazy couple of years for me,” she admits. “I’ve been through a lot.”
She adds, “In fact next week it will all be over. I will be done with probation. That horrible night will all be over with.” The audience clapped upon hearing that de Lesseps’ probation will end.
Shortly after divorcing Tom D’Agostino, de Lesseps partied too hard in Palm Beach in 2017. The couple married in the area only a year prior and de Lesseps was overserved. Her outrageous behavior prompted the hotel employees to call the police. She ended up slamming the door in an officer’s face, kicked another officer and then threatened to kill the officer.
She was charged with disorderly intoxication, battery on an officer/firefighter/EMT, resisting arrest with violence and threatening a public servant, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
