‘RHONY’ News: Did Dorinda Medley Break-Up With Dry-Cleaning Boyfriend?

Dorinda Medley from The Real Housewives of New York City has reportedly split from her boyfriend John Mahdessian. The 54-year-old housewife has been spotted in public events without her dry-cleaning man.

“They’re starting to live separate lives,” an insider told Page Six. “He’ll attend the opening of an envelope, and she goes out for work, but she’s really low-key. He’s all about being the guy on the town since she’s been on the show.”

The couple has been featured on RHONY and viewers have seen their ups and downs. Medley had previously said on the show that she doesn’t need to marry Mahdessian to know they were committed to one another. She even said that she doesn’t even want to live with him.

Their relationship is something both of them only understand and that had worked for them. Another source told the NY-based publication that they’re not completely broken up and are working through “some things.”

“It’s complicated. They’ve been together seven years and just hit a rough patch. They’re working through some things,” the source said.

Dorinda Medley faces controversy

Elsewhere in Medley’s life, she’s facing controversy over insensitive comments about a transgender model. The Bravo star attended the Garo Sparo show during New York Fashion Week and commented on model Yasmine Petty.

In a now-deleted Instagram story, Medley can be heard saying: “Well with a body like that it’s a guy. That’s a guy.” Sonja Morgan was with her and added, “With a body like that it’s a guy, you’re absolutely right. Oh lord.”

As the moment went viral on social media, Petty was able to listen to the comments made by Medley and Morgan.

“People don’t get to choose their sexual orientation or gender identity. What people do get to choose though is projecting rude and cruel behavior toward other people over for things they have no control over,” she said in a statement to Hollywood Life. “Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine. But we as a society must do better. People in positions of influence and power must do better. And to any trans woman out there feeling inadequate as a woman, keep strutting honey.

After the model’s reaction, both of the RHONY ladies released a statement to the same publication saying, “We have a history as long-standing supporters of the LGBTQ community in many ways and apologize for our offensive comments at the fashion show.”

Dorinda Medley recalls the early ‘RHONY’ days

Medley joined RHONY during Season 7 of the show, having appeared during Season 4 as a guest. The housewife had ties to the OG ladies from the start as her daughter Hannah Lynch was in the same school as Ramona Singer’s daughter Avery Singer.

“We just became friends,” Medley told Refinery 29 about her friendship with Singer. “She was stylish, she was quirky. [Singer] was exactly the way she is. She took me under her wing.”

When Medley found out that Singer was joining a show that would document the lives of women in the city, she didn’t think much of it.

“They came to me. I was like ‘It sounds like the most ridiculous idea. They’re going to follow around women in New York?’ I just didn’t get it,” she recalled. “Also, the timing wasn’t right. I wanted to just be all-mom at that point and focus on [Hannah].”

After joining the show, Medley realized that she loved being in front of the camera and we love her for it too. Medley has had iconing catchphrases like “make it nice” and “CLIP!”
