‘RHOP’: Is Rihanna ‘Team Monique Samuels’?

Singer Rihanna‘s Instagram may be an indication of where she comes down on the Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard Bassett drama on The Real Housewives of Potomac.

She hasn’t weighed in on the fight, but her Instagram following may hint at who she supports. As a self-proclaimed Housewives fan, Rihanna made a surprise appearance on Karen Huger’s Instagram Live this summer. She commented that she was proud of Huger. And added, “Oh shooooot!! Kareeeennn.” Plus, “What’s up FAVES?!”

Rihanna is clearly a fan of Huger (and vice versa). But could she also come down on Samuels’ side? Bassett has now drawn a line in the sand and refuses to work with Samuels going forward.

No love from Rihanna on Instagram

Rihanna follows a slew of Housewives on Instagram. This includes Heather Gay from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Ashley Darby, Huger, and Samuels from RHOP. But she doesn’t follow Bassett.

In all fairness, Rihanna doesn’t follow Wendy Osefo, Gizelle Bryant, and Robyn Dixon. However, Dixon and Bryant have sided with Bassett too. Huger suggested that perhaps Bryant pushed Samuels into the fight. Many fans also believed Bryant encouraged the altercation. But Bryant insisted she was merely frustrated with Bassett over external circumstances having nothing to do with the conflict with Samuels.

Dixon received death threats when she distanced herself from Samuels and sided with Bassett. “People can be so disgusting, all because of a TV show,” Dixon captioned a screenshot of a disturbing and violent threat on Instagram. Dixon is also feuding with Huger. Osefo is trying to remain neutral regarding the fight.

Candiace Dillard Bassett issues an ultimatum (which she says isn’t an ultimatum)

Bassett opened up about where she stands going into the next season. “If it were up to me, the answer is, you know, good riddance go home,” she said on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast. “But I can’t speak for the network. I don’t want to be quoted as speaking for the network.”

She added that she should not be around Samuels for her own well being. “For my mental health, I cannot be around someone who is doing a music video to promote the song bragging about fighting me,” Bassett said. “And there’s nothing that I need or want to say to her. This is a job. This is still a job at the end of the day. I’m not working with her and that’s not an ultimatum. That’s nothing but my truth. I am not comfortable in that space.”

“I will not film with her. I will not work with her,” Bassett said. However, Samuels is open to remaining on the series with Bassett. “The whole gang up and the whole bullying mentality and all of those things, it’s not going to work anymore,” she told Shadow and Act. “People need to bring their own weight so that they can have something good to talk about rather than making the same paycheck as I’m making,”
