‘RHOP’ Stars Monique Samuels and Ashley Darby Celebrated Chris Samuels’ Ring of Honor Induction
Real Housewives of Potomac star Monique Samuels met Chris Samuels when she moved to Washington D.C. in pursuit of a singing career. Samuels’, a former NFL offensive tackle, asked Monique to marry him in 2012, and the couple currently has three children.
She recently rekindled her friendship with Ashley Darby as she was pregnant with her last child, Chase, and now Darby has her own bundle of joy as well, a baby boy named Dean.
The Darby’s came to the Washington Redskin’s game to support the Samuels’ and watch Chris get inducted into the Ring of the Honor.
Monique Samuels and Ashley Darby’s friendship
After starting off on the wrong foot, Samuels and Darby began spending more time with each other during Real Housewives of Potomac Season 5. At the time, Darby was trying to conceive, and Samuels was pregnant with her rainbow baby, so the expecting mother wanted to share the experience with Darby.
Unfortunately, their newfound friendship upset Samuels’ then close friend, Dillard, who was at odds with Darby. Their fallout reached a head when Samuels showed Darby private text messages between herself and Dillard, infuriating the pageant beauty.
Still, they expressed interest in repairing their friendship during the reunion. Allegedly, a few months later, the two got into a “serious fight” while filming Season 5, and police were called.
Presumably, because of the beef with Dillard, she has gotten closer to the Housewives, including Darby. For example, Karen Huger and her husband recently joined the Samuels’ for Monique’s podcast to talk about love after the honeymoon phase.
Ashley Darby supported the Samuels’ at the induction
The Housewives brought their children to the induction, making it baby Chase and Dean’s first football game. Because it was raining, the kids were covered in ponchos, but they still seemed to have a great time on the field while the Redskin’s honored Samuels.
Darby heavily documented her experience on Instagram including, several pictures of Chase and Dean’s cute moments, the induction, and the Darbys along with the Samuels at FedEx Field.
Monique Samuels also Instagram-ed memories from her husband’s induction, and acknowledged his hard work in a separate post, writing, “He’s the most humble person I know,” and “after being retired for almost ten years, the impact he’s made on the NFL can still be felt!”
Chris Samuels’ tenure with the Washington Redskins
After shining at the University of Alabama, where he was recognized as consensus All-American, the Washington Redskins selected Samuels third overall in the 2000 NFL Draft.
Considered one of the best offensive tackle prospects in his draft, he is the only offensive tackle drafted in the Top 19 of his draft and was the first Alabama offensive lineman chosen in the first round since 1978.
Samuels played ten seasons in the NFL and was a six-time Pro Bowl selection until retiring in March 2010 after a neck injury. Before his Redskins Ring of Honor induction, he was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame (2016).
