Why was Jen Shah indicted?

Shah and her assistant Stuart Smith have been indicted due to an investigation that found them to be in the middle of a fraud scheme. Both Shah and Smith “are each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with telemarketing through which they victimized 10 or more persons over the age of 55.”

If found guilty of these charges they would spend a maximum sentence of 30 years. In their conspiracy to commit money laundering, they would be sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison.

HSI Special Agent-in-Charge Peter C. Fitzhugh said in a statement: “Shah and Smith objectified their very real human victims as ‘leads’ to be bought and sold, offering their personal information for sale to other members of their fraud ring.”

Jen Shah talks about friends

The Bravo star has not openly talked about her situation but has used her social media to showcase all the support she has been receiving. Fans of Shah have started the “Free Jen” campaign as they believe in her innocence. Some of the publications the RHOSLC star has made have been about friendships and loyalty.

“Thank you for being loyal, believing in me, and not believing the hype,” Shah wrote in reply to her fan. “This journey has showed [sic] me who my true friends are. All my love.”

In a new post on her Instagram Stories, Shah once again hinted at friendships and possibly taking a headcount as to who remains by her side.

“True friends will be by your side through it all,” read the graphic she shared.

Underneath she placed a text that read, “Thank you to those of you who that have shown my family and I real friendship, unconditional love & true loyalty during this difficult time. Thank you for not judging me and not believing everything you read online. I asked Allah to show me who my real friends are and he has. Allah Akbar.”
