‘Rise of Skywalker’: Who Are The New ‘Star Wars’ Characters?
Almost 40 years passed since Star Wars: A New Hope premiered. Since then, the Star Wars movies became a cultural phenomenon, sparking a prequel trilogy, a series on Disney XD, and additions to Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Now, in its final installment of the sequel trilogy, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker invites new characters to join in the battle between the Resistance and the First Order. Here are a few of the characters added to the cast.
Proceed with caution, Padawan — some spoilers ahead!

Lando Calrissian is returning to the ‘Star Wars’ cast
He may be an old friend of Han Solo’s, but he’s a new addition to this Star Wars trilogy. Lando Calrissian, the smuggler from Cloud City, returns in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. From the trailer, it looks like he’s joined Rey, Joe, Finn, and the rest of the Resistance in their fight against the First Order. He even caught a ride on the Millenium Falcon.
“How did I find Lando again? Lando never left me!” Billy Dee Williams said at the Star Wars Celebration.
Zorri Bliss
According to Star Wars Fandom, this new character is a bounty hunter. She spent time on the “planet Kijimi during the war between the First Order and the Resistance.” It’s unclear if this character will join the Resistance or the First Order in the newest Star Wars movie.
Zorri Bliss is portrayed by actress Keri Russel. She is known for playing Elizabeth Jennings in the television series The Americans, Jenna Hunterson in the 2007 movie Waitress, and Felicity Porter in the television series Felicity.
Allegiant General Pryde
We may have lost Captain Phasma during Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but there’s another character lurking around the First Order. According to Vanity Fair, Allegiant General Pryde has a leadership role in the First Order and is the father of General Hux.
“I’m really eager to see the dynamic between General Hux and his now-revealed father, Allegiant General Pryde, played by Richard E. Grant,” said one Instagram user. Is Pryde that much worse than Hux, and thus the influence that made Hux such a young rising star in The First Order? Or will Pryde be more of a measured voice of reason, trying to temper Hux’s worse urges?”

Jannah
Not much has been revealed about Jannah, not even her last name. Played by Naomi Ackie, this character is rumored to potentially be Lando Calrissian’s daughter.
“I’m very ready to celebrate, I’ve been waiting for this,” Ackie said at the panel. “All I can really say is the original group are going on this epic, epic adventure together, and I’m so excited about where Jana crosses paths with them.”
Naomi Ackie acted in Lady Macbeth as Anna and in the television mini-series, The Five, as Gemma Morgan.
D-0
BB-8 has a new best friend! During the Star Wars: Episode IX Panel at Star Wars Celebration Chicago 2019, a new droid was introduced to the Star Wars family, a smaller unit, called D-0.
Old characters like Finn, Rey, Poe, Kylo Ren, and Rose will all appear in this upcoming Star Wars film. Additionally, archived footage of Carrie Fisher will be used, to portray Leia Organa in this final installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
