‘Riverdale’: Did The CW Show Just Pull its Most Bonkers Stunt Yet?
The CW’s gritty Archie Comics series, Riverdale, is well-known for its wild antics. Just last season, Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) literally fought a bear. The character of Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) is also known for wild behavior as well, but did the show reach a new level of bonkers this week?
Cheryl serves up “meat pies”
In the last episode, Cheryl’s relatives, her aunt and uncle, showed up and wanted to sell what’s left of the family business — including the Blossom house.
Once Cheryl’s uncle found out she was keeping Jason downstairs in the chapel, he grabbed her and threatened to have her committed. In order to save her, Toni (Vanessa Morgan) hit him over the head.
So, in this week’s episode, Cheryl and Toni then had to come up with a plan of action since her aunt and cousin were still snooping around the property. So she, Toni, and her grandma gathered for dinner with the relatives where Cheryl told them that she was serving up Uncle Bedford’s body — and that they were eating him! Toni also rolled in Jason in the wheelchair to spook them some more. They then fled and will likely not pop up again.
The “meat pie” moment has fans shook
Did Riverdale really go cannibal!? One fan tweeted, “That scene with Cheryl’s family, lol what was that? Seriously wth was that? Did they rlly eat their uncle? What is happening rn?!!!!”
Another said, “Out of all the little txsgiving [sic] stories tonight, the Cheryl/TT one is the most awesome. I’m actually scared of @madelainepetsch ! (but I’d still invite her for dinner).”
“#Riverdale sooo Cheryl and Toni made Aunt Cricket and cousin Fester go all Jeffrey Dahmer on thanksgiving… I’m ok with that,” tweeted someone else.
Near the end of the episode, it is revealed that the meat pies were made out of lamb, and not actual human meat. So, luckily, Riverdale didn’t go there.
Are Cheryl and Toni in the clear now?
We have been in the middle of a long-gestating arc that started last season, revealing Cheryl is still obsessed with Jason. With Jason now finally out of the basement, it seems as if the mystique is now over. Hopefully, now that’s out of the way, Cheryl and Toni can move on and we no longer have to see anymore smaller storylines about the hauntings at their residence.
“So do Cheryl and Toni ever leave their house? They’ve been there for the last three episodes… #riverdale,” tweeted one fan. We sure do hope so, we need Cheryl and Toni front and center!
