‘Riverdale’: Who Is the Gargoyle King?
There’s been a black-hooded killer and, most recently, a farm that harvests organs. In the season 3 finale, Archie, Jughead, Betty, and Veronica are back to save Riverdale from another ominous threat — the Gargoyle King. Who is this masked serial killer? Here’s our summary of the Riverdale season 3 finale.

The ‘Riverdale’ season 3 finale aired on May 15th, 2019
Fans learned from previous episodes that there’s definitely more than one villain in Riverdale. At the beginning of this episode, the Gargoyle King is still alive, well, and annonymous, tormenting the town of Riverdale.
There’s also Black Hood problems. During the medieval prom, Betty flees from the Black Hood, who she knows is her father. There’s the issue of the Farm harvesting organs — by the end of the finale, all of the members somehow disappearing at the hands of Edgar.
At the beginning of the season finale, the Gargoyle King is revealed at a dinner between Penelope Blossom, Veronica, Betty, Jughead, and Archie. It turns out to be Chic.
Because of Chic’s dyed hair and apparent name change, Ethel Muggs told Jughead that the Gargoyle King was Jason Blossom. The real Jason Blossom, we find out, was kept in the farm for Cheryl to inevitably find.
Technically, Riverdale’s ‘Gargoyle King’ is a ‘Gargoyle Queen’
It wasn’t until Jughead, Betty, Veronica, and Archie play their final round of Dungeons and Dragons that Riverdale is finally free of their serial killers. The Black Hood is shot by Penelope and the Gargoyle King, Chic, is arrested after being hit over the head by Archie.
The Gargoyle King was working with the Black Hood, but both of them were working underneath Penelope, who also holds a grudge against Riverdale. She is the one who orchestrated the Dungeons and Dragons game and after Archie and his friends won, instructed the Gargoyle Gang to kill them. The Gargoyle Gang was then defeated by the Poisons and the Serpents, led by Cheryl.
There will be a fourth season of ‘Riverdale’
It’s unclear whether or not Betty, Archie, Veronica, and Jughead will stay friends for the upcoming fourth season. The last scene of season 3 implies that Betty, Veronica, and Archie will kill Jughead, burning his hat along the way. Fans are already trying to figure out what made them go from best friends to potential murders.
There will officially be another season of this television series. However, it is unclear when the new season will premiere or which characters will return to Riverdale.
“We are so excited and so honored that the viewers have made another Riverdale season possible,” Jon Goldwater, Archie Comics CEO/Publisher, said
Riverdale season 4 has been confirmed by The CW Network.
