MMA trailblazer Ronda Rousey made a name for herself as one of the most dominant UFC fighters ever, so of course, all eyes were on her when she made the transition to professional wrestler in the WWE. But not too many expected her first singles match or the events that followed to turn out the way they did.

On Sunday, June 17, Rousey competed in a match against Raw women’s champion Nia Jax. Just when she looked like she had a handle on her opponent, Alexa Bliss attacked Rousey from behind and beat her with the Money in the Bank briefcase. After knocking her out of the ring, Bliss went on to take the championship title from Jax.

The very next night, Rousey had enough of Bliss’ antics.

The former UFC champ was initially held back by Raw general manager Kurt Angle but Bliss continued to push her buttons and that’s when Rousey went after her. She beat Bliss with her own briefcase and then hit Angle too when he tried to intervene. Soon four referees entered the ring and tried to calm her down but it was too late and they too felt Rousey’s wrath.

Following her assault on anyone who stood in her way, The Baddest Woman on the Planet earned an in-storyline 30-day suspension.

Angle took to Twitter to explain the decision writing, “Unfortunately Ronda crossed the line tonight. If Ronda can’t take a few verbal ‘shots,’ then she needs to reconsider her career in Sports entertainment. This is NOT some fight club. This is WWE. I regret suspending her from Raw for 30 days… but My hope is she’ll learn from it.”

Bliss also reacted to Rousey’s actions via Twitter. “Last night was supposed to be a celebration. A happy moment for the ENTIRE @WWE Universe. It was our day to rejoice with a new and REAL #Raw Women’s Champion,” she wrote, adding, “But @RondaRousey ruined that for everyone! She attacked @RealKurtAngle!! I applaud our #Raw GM’s actions and hope this monster learns from her lesson … don’t worry all, I’m still your Champion!”

Rousey later posted an apology to Angle on her Instagram. “I sincerely apologize for my behavior tonight…. Though you were the first to put hands on me, I shouldn’t have let my temper get the best of me….Despite the fact I was cheated, provoked, and disrespected by Alexa… i shouldn’t have been willing to go through you to get to her.
I’ll gladly serve my suspension.”

In that same post, she let Bliss know that she would be “thinking” and “preparing” to see her again in 30 days. “Alexa, know that every moment you don’t see me i am thinking of you and preparing for your comeuppance. [See] you in 30 days #LittleMissBish.”

WWE announced that Jax and Bliss will faceoff in a rematch for the championship title at WWE Extreme Rules on Sunday, July 15. Rousey’s suspension from Raw is up three days after that event.
