The Royal Family’s Official Twitter Account Is Taking a Stand Against Meghan Markle Trolls

Things have gotten out of hand, and the British Royal Family is tired of it. Since her whirlwind romance with Prince Harry began in 2016 — Duchess Meghan Markle has been the target of cruel, racist, and sexist trolling from the media and the public.

The former actress has delt the constant rumors with her head held high. Now that the duchess has officially returned from maternity leave after giving birth to her first child, Archie Harrison, things have changed.

During her recent tour to South Africa, it looked like Markle was finding her stride again in the public eye. However, a rare candid interview showed the world just how much the Los Angeles native has been struggling under the scrutiny, bullying and everything in between. Now, it looks like the British Royal Family is also ready to take a massive stand against the constant trolling.

Meghan Markle’s revealing interview

During her visit to South Africa, Markle got vulnerable and candid about the toll the scrutiny, racism, and bullying has taken on her. As a new mom especially, it has all been a very trying experience. She told ITV News’ Tom Bradby,

Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable, and so that was made really challenging. And then when you have a newborn, you know. And especially as a woman, it’s a lot. So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed. It’s, um … yeah.

Things have reportedly gotten so bad that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle are reportedly considering moving away from England for some time. They’ve also announced a family break around Thanksgiving time, where they will be spending some weeks in the United States.

The British Royal Family’s Twitter account is now shading trolls

Though the Sussexes and Cambridges’ official social media accounts have taken steps to stop harassment of both Markle and her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, the official British Royal Family Twitter account has recently taken things to a new level.

On Oct. 12, the official Royal Family Twitter account liked a tweet that read,

These anti- #MeghanMarkle trolls are all the same: they pine for ‘the good old days.’ She was genius to title her Vogue issue ‘Forces for Change.’ We are witnessing a seismic shift in power and culture, and her haters are furious and terrified. Oh well. Get used to it.

We love that the British Royal Family is a united front when it comes to this very serious issue.

Prince Harry is taking major steps to protect Meghan Markle

Prince Harry is not taking the constant harassment of his wife lightly. Recently, he announced that he would be pursuing legal action against several major publishers for the misuse of private information, infringement of copyright, and breach of the Data Protection Act 2018.

In his statement, the prince said he will not tolerate the continued dehumanization of his wife that echos the British press’ treatment of his late mother, Princess Diana. His statement read,

Unfortunately, my wife has become one of the latest victims of a British tabloid press that wages campaigns against individuals with no thought to the consequences — a ruthless campaign that has escalated over the past year, throughout her pregnancy and while raising our newborn son.

There is a human cost to this relentless propaganda, specifically when it is knowingly false and malicious, and though we have continued to put on a brave face — as so many of you can relate to — I cannot begin to describe how painful it has been.

It’s clear that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been suffering silently. We’re just glad that the British Royal Family has decided to be more proactive (and less traditional) when it comes to clapping back at this type of treatment.
