Royal Fans Finally Get An Insider Look At What Prince William and Kate Middleton Will Be Like as King and Queen

It’s no secret that it’s challenging to be a part of England’s royal family. For Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the intense scrutiny and pressure to be perfect are unrelenting.

The press is constantly comparing them to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and picking apart every hint about how close they are. What’s more, Prince William is second in line to the throne, so the public is always wondering how he and Duchess Kate will manage when it’s their turn to take their place at the head of the royal family.

The good news is that an event at the palace seems to have given anxious royal-watchers reason to feel confident in their future king and his bride.

Picture-perfect at an important event

Recently Prince William and Middleton attended an important royal event at Buckingham Palace. The annual Diplomatic Corps reception is a white-tie event for 1,000 guests. During this elaborate affair, ambassadors, high commissioners, and government officials get to mingle with members of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth herself.

Prince William and Duchess Kate not only graciously met the guests and spent the evening making sure they felt welcome, but the event was a triumph in another way: Middleton looked simply stunning.

Comparisons to another beautiful royal

Middleton wore a midnight blue velvet gown with an off-the-shoulder sweetheart neckline, which was designed by Alexander McQueen. With her stunning outfit and sophisticated updo, Middleton reminded people strongly of Princess Grace of Monaco, originally known as Grace Kelly.

Princess Grace once wore a very similar dress, with a neckline that is pretty much identical. She was also known for exuding the same kind of elegant glamour that people have come to expect from Duchess Kate.

It’s not the first time people have compared the two beautiful women. Middleton’s wedding dress (also designed by Alexander McQueen) has often been compared to Princess Grace’s wedding dress. Both gowns featured full skirts and elegant lace bodices.

A nod to another special royal

During the event, Middleton also wore the Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara, which features diamonds and hanging pearls, set in silver and gold. She’s worn the Lover’s Knot more often than any other of the glittering royal tiaras that are available to her.

Some people believe this choice might be to honor Princess Diana, who was very fond of the Lover’s Knot and wore it frequently. The tiara became associated with her so strongly that after her death it was put away. No one wore it for a long time until Duchess Kate brought it out again for a reception at Buckingham Palace in 2015.

After Queen Elizabeth passes away the next person in line for the throne is her son, Prince Charles. Upon his death, the crown will pass to Prince Charles’ eldest son, Prince William.

While this may not happen for decades, it seems that Prince William and Duchess Kate are maturing into their royal duties already. They exude the gracious, unflappable demeanor that the world expects from British royalty.

It isn’t just the couple’s style that is making people notice how royal they are. They are also stepping into their roles reaching out to struggling people in the world. Their recent trip to Pakistan was not only an example of the kind of charity work the royal family values, but it was another beautiful example of how the couple honored the late Princess Diana.

Although King or Queen of England is mostly a ceremonial duty, the job is still important to the nation. Prince William and Kate Middleton show all the signs that they are growing into people who are ready for their upcoming duties.
