Royal Fans Find Meghan Markle So Relatable Reading to Archie in Adorable First Birthday Video
Royal fans hoping that Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex would share a new photo of Archie Harrison in celebration of his first birthday on May 6 were not disappointed to receive the gift of an Archie video! In a clip posted on the SaveWithStories Instagram account, Meghan reads Archie a book to promote the charity — and fans can’t get over how relatable Meghan is in the video.
The Sussexes shared a special video
The video, posted on the SaveWithStories Instagram account, includes a caption that shares the details of Meghan and Archie’s reading time, as well as more information about the organizations Save the Children and No Kid Hungry.
“‘Duck! Rabbit!’ read by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex,” the caption begins. “’Duck! Rabbit!’ by @akrfoundation & @tlichtenheld (published by @chroniclekidsbooks). Read by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex (with Harry, The Duke of Sussex behind the camera) to their son Archie for his 1st Birthday. Happy Birthday, Archie!”
The caption explains: “THIRTY MILLION CHILDREN rely on school for food. Responding to the needs of kids during these school closures @savethechildren and @nokidhungry have a new fund @SAVEWITHSTORIES to support food banks, and mobile meal trucks, and community feeding programs with funds to do what they do best — and also — with educational toys, books, and worksheets to make sure brains are full, as well as bellies.”
“If you can manage a one time gift of $10, please text SAVE to 20222. If another amount would work better for you, please visit our website — link in bio. There is no maximum and there is no minimum — together we will rise and together we can help. Thank you and stay safe,” the caption shares.
Fans found Meghan so relatable
In the video, Meghan holds Archie on her lap while Prince Harry records (and is heard occasionally off camera!) as she reads him one of his favorite books.
Archie is happy and wiggly in the video as his mom reads and at times he’s engaged, turning pages, and being vocal — and at other times, he gets distracted and loses interest. Through it all, Meghan continues to read the story and talk to Archie and keep him on task with finishing the book, even when he leans over and presents her with another one to read.
Fans loved how real the video is. Meghan has her hands full, as any mom with a young active child knows too well, and many found her very relatable in the unfussy video. Rather than record it perfectly, the Sussexes keep it real, wiggly baby and all.
Fans react with sweet comments
Among the comments on the Instagram post about how big and cute Archie is, as well as birthday wishes for the one-year-old, were those who praised the Sussexes for supporting a great cause.
“So wonderful!!! Happy Birthday Archie! Thank you all for sharing this moment with us and this great cause!! Enjoy the day!!,” one fan commented.
Others pointed out how real this situation is. “How lovely! Thank you for sharing! Happy Birthday Archie! So real… love that he keeps trying to get the other book and Mama is so great with him. She’s even able to finish the book. Well done!,” one fan noted.
Another person added, “Love this. Happy Birthday Archie. My son is two and still grabs other books while I’m reading the first one he gave to me.”
The video brought up happy memories for some parents, as one fan pointed out, “So so sweet! One of my husband and my favorite memories from when ours were little. What a cute and curious boy you have! Relish every single minute.”
Others were pleased to see that the Sussexes are doing so well after exiting the royal family. Fans left comments such as, “A real life of the real family, without strict rules” and “How adorable! Archie is every kid everywhere.”
One fan summed it up perfectly, writing: “[heart emoji] everything about this: the simpleness, the way Archie’s mom was able to manage him and keep the story going, the giggles in the background, how real it is, and who the birthday boy is: a guy with a mind and plans all his own.”
