‘Royal Split’: Why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are Being Split Up at Madame Tussaud’s
Our favorite royal couple, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, have split up….at least at Madame Tussaud’s. The famous wax figure museum has decided to move Markle’s wax figure so that she is no longer with her husband.
This may come as a shock to some patrons, as most married royal couples are put together within the museum. But, Markle was famous before she married Prince Harry, so this makes her case a bit different than other royals like her sister-in-law Kate Middleton.
Markle and Prince Harry’s relationship
Most people were first introduced to Meghan Markle when she appeared in Suits. So when she began dating Prince Harry, it was a complete shock. Royals aren’t known for dating celebrities, but somehow Prince Harry and Markle found one another and made it work. They had a whirlwind romance that led to them getting married in May of last year. Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor, into the world a few months ago.
Since becoming royal, Markle has adjusted to the new lifestyle about as well as anyone could expect. Though she has been portrayed pretty harshly in the media, she always has a smile on her face whenever she’s seen out in public.
Why did Madame Tussaud’s separate Markle and Prince Harry?
As mentioned, Markle was famous before she married Prince Harry. Because of this, she will be placed in a room with other celebrities at Madame Tussauds London.
The other figures in her new room include Tom Hardy, Priyanka Chopra, and Victoria and David Beckham. Her husband will be with the other royals.
“At Madame Tussauds London we’re always listening to what people have to say about their favourite stars,” Steve Davies, General Manager at Madame Tussauds London told The Sun.
“Meghan continues to carve out her own modern take on life as a Royal and we want to mirror her independent celebrity status in the attraction.”
“It’s not necessarily forever – and we’re not splitting our loved-up couple! We’re just allowing Meghan to mingle in her more-familiar celebrity circle for a while.”
Markle’s figure was first put in Madame Tussaud’s London last year before her royal wedding. Since then, she and Harry had been together in the museum. Harry’s figure was made to commemorate his 30th birthday.
Since Madame Tussauds has said that the move is not permanent, people have been wondering when Markle’s figure will rejoin her husband’s. Perhaps when Archie is old enough to have his own figure created?
Fan reactions to the move
Fans have had mixed reactions to the museum deciding to move Markle.
“The real Prince Harry don’t need a wax statue next to him, he have the real Meghan Markle to do that,” one person tweeted. “Petty move though Madame Tussauds.”
Some people, who aren’t particularly fond of Markle, have been happy with the move.
“When art imitates life…except MM belongs in the D list room, mingling with Courtney Stodden,” another person wrote. “She’s no more A list than she is royal.”
“Now she’s too good for the royals?” one person commented. “We knew that would happen but so soon?
