‘RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars 5’ Episode 7 Recap — A Comedy Challenge With a Twist
We’re down to the Top Four, squirrel friends. Surely, RuPaul won’t have any other twists for these competitors, right? Turns out, they’ll have to compete in a comedy challenge to determine who will appear in the final episode. Here’s what you might’ve missed during this week’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars 5.

Alexis Mateo has exited the competition
To start with, Blair is feeling all the emotions. Mostly, happy to slay another day. Miz Cracker is happy with losing the lipsync, to be honest, because she didn’t want that decision on her shoulders, but she, too, chose Alexis to go home.
For Shea, her vote for Alexis was also an act of self-preservation because there’s no telling what Alexis would’ve done next. When the Top Four return to the Werk Room, Miz Cracker reads Alexis’ message and it’s pretty nice.
Then, RuPaul announced what the challenge is this week: a “standup comedy smackdown.” Miz Cracker, as the top All-Star last week, gets to pick the order the girls will go in. Almost instantly, she’s nervous about making that decision.
She decides, though, that’s she’s ultimately going to set herself up for success. Miz Cracker puts herself third in the setlist. Jujubee will go first, Blair second, and Shea Couleé last, right after Miz Cracker. Jujubee is a little annoyed but mostly takes note that the queens’ true colors are coming out.
The queens compete in a comedy challenge
One by one, the queens head to the mainstage to confirm with Ross Matthews and the celebrity guest judge… and it’s Jane Krakowski. Jujubee goes first and she fully fangirls over her. Jane Krakowski actually says Jujubee has the advantage by going first. She gets to set the mood of the show. Take that, Miz Cracker!
Blair is next and also is excited to see Jane Krakowski. Both judges love Blair’s jokes. Like, so much they say not to change anything. Blair is feeling pretty confident. Miz Cracker goes next and gets the opposite critique. They say her “Ted Talk” performance needs more jokes.
Shea is probably the most version, she says. She’s funny in dialogue but as a standup comedy routine? She’s not used to that. Ross suggests she should poke fun at the Sasha Velour moment. Shea isn’t exactly into that because she’s not exactly over that moment either.
The next day, Shea tells the other queens she doesn’t have any material, but her dress material for the challenge is gorgeous. Blair, on the other hand, is super confident. Could this be her week to finally win a maxi challenge?
On the runway, the category is ‘aww, freak out’
Each queen goes onstage to perform their standup routine. Jujubee gets a few laughs. Blair literally has silence while she’s flipping through her notes during her performance. Miz Cracker is performing just like she would at a show. Shea Couleé does decide to make a joke about the rose petals, and gets a few laughs, as well.
It’s pretty clear at this point who’s going home. After the runway, though, where the category is, “aww, freak out,” Miz Cracker is the winner of this week’s challenge. After going backstage, Miz Cracker says, again, she’s going to be fair and base it on the challenge, as well as the track record. Blair knows she’s in trouble and frantically starts listing reasons to stay.
When it’s time for Miz Cracker to lipsync, the “assassin” of this week is Kennedy Davenport. They perform an unexpected song, Reba McEntire’s “Fancy.” Miz Cracker is the winner of the lipsync meaning she has the power to eliminate one of the bottom three. She chooses Blair St. Clair.
Blair sashays away, but not without another twist from RuPaul. Right after she announces the top three contestants, (Shea Couleé, Miz Cracker, and Jujubee,) RuPaul answers a mysterious phone call from an old-timey phone on the judge’s table. Will the eliminated queens return to the competition?
