Something magical is coming to Disneyland this fall. We’re not just talking about Galaxy’s Edge. This October, a few former contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race are celebrating Disney Gay Days in a big way. What are Disney Gay Days? Which celebrities in the LGBTQ community are going? Here’s how drag queens, like Nina West and Miz Cracker, are celebrating Disneyland’s Gay Days.
Multiple contestants from ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ commented on the importance of Disney in their lives
Disney adds a little bit of magic to everyone’s lives, even for former contestants of Drag Race. Not so surprisingly, the two Broadway divas of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Nina West and Alexis Michelle, hosted a paneled at RuPaul’s DragCon in New York City entitled “Disney On Broadway: Serving Hair, Face, and Looks for 25 Years.” During her panel at DragCon, Nina West shared that she’s a Disney annual pass holder.
“Drag is magical, and so is theater, and so is Disney,” said Nina West. “So, you kind of put all those elements together and really consider what it takes to pull it all off. Both the magic and illusion of drag and the magic and illusion that goes into theater; they’re pretty much the same thing. Synonymous, if you will.”
What are Disney Gay Days?
There’s always something worth celebrating at Disney. That includes diversity and inclusivity, especially within the LGBTQ community. At both Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida and Disneyland in Anaheim, California, members of the LGBTQ community come together for “Disney Gay Days.”
According to Gay Cities, “these party weekends have been a tradition at Disney parks in the U.S. since the early 1990s when groups of friends decided to go to Disney World in Orlando together sporting red shirts. The bright, unifying color created visibility and showed solidarity.”
This year, Disney Gay Days return to Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Gay Days last from Oct. 4 through Oct. 6, 2019. However, the party doesn’t stop there. A few RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants will be performing throughout the weekend. That includes fan favorites like Nina West, Miz Cracker, and A’Keria C. Davenport.
Which ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ contestants will be at Disney Gay Days in Anaheim?
Outside of the Disney parks, a few RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants will be performing in Anaheim. That includes season 11’s Miss Congeniality Nina West, season 10 contestant Miz Cracker, and season 11 finalist A’Keria C. Davenport.
Nina West and Miz Cracker’s live performance will take place Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at the House of Blues, Anaheim. Tickets for this event cost $50 plus fees, and are available for purchase online. Presumably, the queens can also be found hanging around the parks during the weekend, celebrating Disney Gay Days.
Disney Gay Days take place in Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California from Oct. 4 through Oct. 6, 2019. If you don’t plan on attending the celebration, don’t worry. Episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race are available for streaming on VH1.com and on the VH1 app.
