‘RuPaul’s Drag Race:’ World of Wonder Releases a Timely Chi Chi DeVayne Edit of ‘The Realness’ From Season 8

Fans, still mourning the death of drag legend and All-Star, Chi Chi DeVayne, now have a new edit of the drag performer, thanks to RuPaul’s Drag Race and World of Wonder. Here’s what the production company posted in her honor, a few weeks after her death.

The Top 3 on season 8 of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ appeared in the music video for RuPaul’s ‘The Realness’

Performing one of RuPaul’s songs isn’t an easy task, even for the Top 3 of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8. These divas had their lip-sync skills put to the test, having to perform with the wind and with fluorescent makeup. After the challenge, Bob the Drag Queen became the winner of this season.

Season 8 brought a few iconic moments and queens, none as loveable and charismatic as “The Bayou Queen” Chi Chi DeVayne. Her lip-sync to “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” will go down in Drag Race Herstory as one of the best performances.

Chi Chi DeVayne made it to the Top 4 of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ season 8

In other seasons, the Top 4 contestants were able to film music videos, some even making it to the final round of judging, (seasons 9, 10, and All-Stars 4 included.) However, season 8 only had a Top 3, composed of Bob the Drag Queen, Naomi Smalls, and Kim Chi. As a result, Chi Chi DeVayne wasn’t in the music video for “The Realness.”

Even though Chi Chi DeVayne wasn’t crowned America’s Next Drag Superstar, she totally stole the show with her lip-syncs and her big heart. The drag performer later returned for the spin-off series, RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars 4, where her fanbase only grew.

On Aug. 20, the dancing diva passed away, according to Metro, after contracting pneumonia and suffering from kidney failure. A number of RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni shared their love for Chi Chi DeVayne. About a month later, World of Wonder posted a video tribute of this queen.

World of Wonder finally released a version of ‘The Realness’ focusing on Chi Chi DeVayne

With some extra clips of Chi Chi DeVayne, World of Wonder posted a touching tribute of the drag performer, featuring her alongside the Top 3 of season 8. This was also to the song used throughout the season, RuPaul’s release, titled “The Realness.”

“Rest in power, Chi Chi DeVayne. The official music video for RuPaul’s ‘The Realness,’ featuring RuPaul and the top four from Season 8 of RuPaul’s Drag Race,” the caption read. Within a matter of hours, the post earned thousands of likes and comments.

Fans can watch more World of Wonder content on the production company’s streaming platform, WOWPresents Plus. There, fans can catch up with Canada’s Drag Race, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, and spin-off series featuring the drag performers.
