Ryan Murphy Is Creating A New Miniseries For This ‘American Horror Story’ Actress — And It’s Not Sarah Paulson

Writer, director, and producer Ryan Murphy has so many series in the pipeline, it’s hard to keep up. American Horror Story is one of his biggest ongoing projects, but he also has a deal with Netflix that is spawning a whole host of new shows. Here’s the one actress he is writing a vehicle for — and no, it’s not Sarah Paulson.

Ryan Murphy is the creator of many well-known series

Murphy has been working in TV since the ’90s. His first series, Popular, was a campy teen dramedy on the WB that never really took off. He followed that with Nip/Tuck, a medical drama that makes Grey’s Anatomy look tame. But then came Glee, the musical series that the world loved to hate. And suddenly, Murphy was a household name.

He’s gone on to create many more series, and win Emmys for his producing. Murphy employees many of the same actors in multiple series, and among his favorites is Paulson, who stars in American Horror Story, The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story, and the upcoming Ratched on Netflix.

He may be best known for ‘American Horror Story’

Many now associate Murphy most closely with American Horror Story. The anthology drama series began in 2011 with Murder House, and is now in its ninth season. Again, many of the same actors have appeared over the years, portraying multiple roles (and occasionally reprising old ones).

The 100th episode of American Horror Story, appropriately titled “Episode 100,” aired on Oct. 23, 2019. In celebration of this, Murphy posted the above fan-made collage of characters, and also gave an interview in which he spoke about his favorite episodes over the years.

Murphy sings the praises of this AHS star

Talking to EW about the Cult season, Murphy spoke about one actress in particular. “Billie Lourd stunned me with the depth of her performance, I always knew she was fantastic but this season she really showed me how deep and complicated she could be. The craft Billie has, I think she can control which cheek a tear slides down, she is that good.”

Lourd also stars in the current season, 1984. Murphy spoke about her again, and let slip that he has more in store for her. “I love how unhinged and brilliant Billie Lourd is, she just keeps proving to me how talented she is. I’ve been so inspired by her performance, I’m writing a miniseries just for her! Top secret but it’s gonna be my tribute to her talent,” he said.

What else has Billie Lourd been in?

Lourd is the daughter of actress Carrie Fisher and granddaughter of Oscar-nominee Debbie Reynolds. Like her mother, she has appeared in latest three Star Wars films, beginning with The Force Awakens. However, many know her from her roles in Murphy’s projects, beginning with the Fox series Scream Queens.

Over the past four years or so, Lourd has begun to make quite a career for herself. She appeared in films Billionaire Boys Club and this year’s Booksmart. Lourd will also have a role in an upcoming episode of Will & Grace. We’re excited to see what Murphy has in store for her next.
