Uh-oh. It appears that there’s a mistake on the Spider-Man: Far From Home poster and one of the stars of the movie, Samuel L. Jackson, isn’t too happy about it. Jackson took to Instagram to call out the mistake in the most Samuel L. Jackson way ever.
The poster got something wrong about his character
Fury’s eye patch covers his left eye and the poster shows it on the character’s right eye, a mistake that the actor pointed out on his social media account.
Jackson shared the mistake with his followers on Instagram, writing: “Uhhhhhhh, What In The Actual F** K IS GOING ON HERE???!!! #headsgonroll #lefteyemuthafu—ah.”
The reason behind Fury’s eyepatch was finally revealed in Captain Marvel, as young Fury lost his eyesight when he was scratched by what looked like a household cat but was an alien called a flerken.
Spider-Man: Far From Home poster has been roasted before
This isn’t the first time the Spider-Man: Far From Home movie posters have been criticized. Earlier this month a new poster was dropped by Marvel Studios and it was, to say the east, pretty underwhelming.
The most highly anticipated movie of the summer appeared to get some slap dash treatment in the promotional posters for IMAX and fans weren’t having it.
The IMAX poster showed a big Spider-Man dominating the visual with a smaller Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Nick Fury (Jackson) sort of stuck at the bottom. Some illustrations were thrown into the mix to represent the landmarks of Italy and London, along with travel stamps.
It wasn’t very impressive, so fans decided to put their own graphic design skills to the test, with some hilarious results, most looking like cobbled together Photoshop fails, but definitely proving more entertaining than the original, for sure.
The poster mishap explained
Fans were quick to offer a variety of explanations for the eyepatch poster mishap, with one Twitter fan remarking: “It’s genuinely called ‘flipping’ where they post the photo but backwards! It’s a technology that’s existed since 1988! Lol @SamuelLJackson – is a legend though!”
Another person reasoned: “See @SamuelLJackson here’s the deal… Nick Fury is inside us all so the reverse image is like looking into a mirror and seeing the world through the eye of Fury #JustTryingToNotGetSomeoneFired.”
Fury’s role in the new Spider-Man explained
Jackson makes his 11th onscreen appearance as Fury in Spider-Man: Far From Home, with director Jon Watts telling EW: “It was great to have [Jackson] on set intimidating everyone. It was just like Nick Fury was actually there, keeping everyone on their toes.”
Watts explained what Fury’s role is in the newest Spider-Man installment, sharing that: “He’s the guy who’s always known everything about everything. He’s the guy who created the Avengers, and now here he is, returning after five years and seeing a very, very different world. So that’s a situation we’ve never seen him in before. The guy who’s always been in control not having the same level of control is interesting.”
Spider-Man: Far From Home opens in theaters on July 2.
