Sarah Ferguson May Not Be Happy About Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Wedding

With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding fast approaching, there has been a bit of drama regarding who is invited to the actual ceremony and receptions. The couple will be married on May 19 at St. George’s Chapel and will have a reception following the mass. Then, later in the evening, there will be another reception with only 250 guests set to attend. It’s the names on that guestlist that reportedly have one duchess up in arms.

Here’s more on who will be and won’t be at the second reception, plus Sarah Ferguson’s reaction to the news, and which of Harry’s close family members won’t be attending his royal wedding.

New royal baby, Prince Louis, won’t be at the wedding

One royal family member who won’t be at the wedding is Prince Harry’s youngest nephew, Prince Louis. Kensington Palace has confirmed that the infant will not be attending, and there are several reasons for that — mainly the fact that the royals would like the spotlight to be entirely on the bride and the groom.

However, Louis’ siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, will be there.

It’s unclear at this time if Harry’s grandfather, Prince Phillip, will be at the wedding or any other events that follow as he is still recovering from hip surgery he had last month.

At this time, the family is “hopeful” that the 96-year-old will at least be able to attend the ceremony at the St. George’s Chapel even if he cannot make the receptions.

Prince Charles and Prince Philip still hold a grudge against Fergie

Ever since Ferguson and Prince Andrew divorced in 1996, some members of the royal family have held a grudge against her. Even though the duchess and her ex-husband have gotten along well over the years while co-parenting their daughters, Prince Philip and Charles haven’t put the past behind them.

In Philip’s case in particular, it’s no secret that he especially dislikes Fergie and blames her for embarrassing the family with her toe-sucking incident and affairs while married to Prince Andrew.

Harry has always maintained a close relationship with Ferguson over the years. In fact, the prince previously went on a ski trip with her in Switzerland and later introduced Fergie to his fiancée.

The Daily Mail noted that its sources said, “He [Harry] absolutely, 100% wants her there and has told palace officials that in no uncertain terms.”

Despite their close relationship, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, Fergie, won’t be invited to the private reception on Markle and Harry’s wedding’s day.  While the duchess is invited to the public daytime ceremony and reception, her name was left off the guest list for the evening reception being thrown by Harry’s father, Prince Charles.

The Prince of Wales did, however, invite his brother Andrew and Fergie’s two children, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. An insider commented on Ferguson’s snub from the evening party, saying, “She is not a member of the royal family anymore and Prince Charles simply doesn’t have time for her. He just can’t see why she is still such a big part of his brother’s life.”

Of course, the snub did not sit well with Ferguson, and she has apparently been voicing her frustrations about how upset she is over it. Sources have said the Duchess of York is “deeply unhappy” to not be invited and even feels insulted — especially since both of her children are going.

So is Andrew who, despite their divorce, she still lives with at his Windsor home. It also been reported that Fergie wasn’t going to get an invitation to any of the events, had it not been for Harry pushing back to state that he wanted her there.

Another reason it was important for Harry to make sure Ferguson received an invite to his royal wedding is because she was not invited to his brother’s in 2011. Many believe that Prince Philip was behind that snub.

When the actual day came for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to say their “I dos,” Fergie left the U.K. and went on a getaway to a spa in Thailand.
