Will Sarah Ferguson Be Booted out of the Royal Family When Prince Charles Becomes King?
Things aren’t looking too good for the York family. After years of being the shining light amid the cheating and money scandals of his ex-wife — Prince Andrew has officially stepped away from his royal duties. This comes after his shocking friendship with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Even after the financier was jailed for his crimes in 2008 — the prince remained friends with him.
Prince Andrew said in a recent interview that he did not “regret” his friendship with Epstein. However, the backlash has been so intense that the prince has changed his tune.
On Nov. 20 it was announced that Queen Elizabeth had given her permission for Prince Andrew to step back from his royal duties. “I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein,” the statement said. “His suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathise with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure.”
Now that Prince Andrew is on the outs with the royal family — how will this affect his ex-wife Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson, Duchess of York.
Sarah Ferguson was slowly reconnecting with the royal family
Since those shocking photographs in 1992, where a still-married Fergie was photographed topless with oil tycoon, John Bryan — the royal family has not been kind to the Duchess of York. Following the sensational photos, the duchess was effectively iced out of the royal family and she and Prince Andrew divorced in 1996.
Though the pair have stayed very close since their split — a 2010 scandal where Fergie was caught by an undercover journalist who offered her $500,000 for access to the royal family made things even worse. However in recent years, and with the duchess invitation to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2018 wedding — it seemed like the royals were slowly warming to Fergie again. Now, with the fallout of Prince Andrew — Fergie might be banished once again.
Prince Charles may boot Sarah Ferguson out of the royal family when he becomes king
Though Prince Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II have seemingly forgiven Fergie for her past — Prince Charles has not gotten over it. “It’s stupid to say that the Duke of Edinburgh has any issue with Andrew and Fergie’s relationship,” an insider told The Sun. “He really doesn’t care any more, on any level. He stands in for Prince Philip every now and then since his retirement but the truth is his official role as the Duke of York is severely limited. The Queen is relaxed because of her personal affection towards Fergie, despite the Duchess’s previous bad behaviour. Charles is not OK with Fergie. He can’t stand her in reality.”
Prince Charles could choose to ice out the entire York Family
It looks like Prince Andrew’s demise might fall right in line with Prince Charles’ master plan. “It’s no secret that Charles wants to streamline the monarchy when he eventually succeeds the Queen, and they have had plenty of disagreements in the past over Andrew’s role and that of his daughters,” an anonymous royal source told The Daily Telegraph. “The Newsnight interview won’t have done anything to help Andrew’s argument that he and his family should have a more high-profile role.”
For Fergie in particular, the Prince of Wales is said to be wary of her constant self-promotion. “The fear with her is that she will never stop promoting herself and looking for ways to make money off her royal position,” the source told The Sun.
We just hope none of this drama affects Princess Eugenie or Princess Beatrice.
