Sarah Ferguson’s Next Moneymaker Might Be a Lifestyle Brand
Sarah, Duchess of York is set to be the next celebrity to launch a lifestyle brand. Sarah joined the British royal family in 1986 when she married Prince Andrew, the third of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s four children. Andrew and Sarah have two daughters: Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
The Duke and Duchess of York divorced in 1996. And Sarah famously declined to sign a confidentiality agreement, so she could write about her time in the royal family. The Duchess of York is still an author today — she’s written mostly children’s books — and has at times been in debt despite receiving funds in her divorce settlement. Her newest moneymaker is supposedly a lifestyle brand, according to the Daily Mail.
Sarah Ferguson’s lifestyle brand is reportedly in the early stages
The Duchess of York’s lifestyle brand is still in the design stages, which means it’s likely going to be some time before products are in stores and online. According to the Daily Mail, the brand will be called Duchess Inc. The tagline? “Entertainment, Edutainment, and Lifestyle.”
Within the Duchess of York’s lifestyle brand, there reportedly will be three lines in varying price ranges.
The Duchess Collection will include mid-range products deemed “accessible premium,” including tea, china, jewelry, fragrances, candles, and jams. Ginger and Moss will be a high-end line and include wallpaper, textiles, and other homeware. And Fergie’s Farm will be a line of organic, ready-made foods the Duchess of York plans to sell in grocery stores.
The Duchess of York hopes to sell jewelry on QVC
Expect to see Sarah’s products in U.K. stores, as well as on the retailer QVC. The Duchess of York’s jewelry collection is expected to include hoop earrings costing $77 and pendants going for $64. It also will feature bangle bracelets with the words “love,” “hope,” and “faith” priced at $140.
According to the Daily Mail, a pitch presentation for Sarah’s brand revealed the idea for the word bracelet came from a piece of the duchess’s jewelry.
“Like any mother, the Duchess of York is incredibly proud of her two daughters and keeps them close to her with a bracelet bearing their name,” the presentation said. “The bracelet has inspired the duchess to create a range bearing the words faith, hope, and love.”
A portion of the profits will go to charity
The pitch presentation also said a to-be-determined portion of the brand’s profits would go to charity to uphold Sarah’s “vision to create a better world founded on realism and empathy.”
