Who Will Sarah Paulson Play In ‘American Crime Story: Impeachment’?

Award-winning actress Sarah Paulson has been cast in the upcoming season of the FX anthology series Impeachment: American Crime Story. She has played so many incredible roles over the years, and this time is no exception. Here’s a look at who Paulson will portray in this story.

Here’s what you know Paulson from

Paulson has been in the business for 25 years. Her early work includes roles in series such as Jack & Jill on the WB and in the beloved romantic comedy What Women Want in a small part. Paulson received acclaimed early on for her lead role in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

Of course, most people know Paulson from her work with Ryan Murphy. She first worked with him on the medical series Nip/Tuck before becoming one of the main players in his anthology series American Horror Story, playing a variety of different roles.

For her ever-changing (and sometimes multiple) roles in American Horror Story, Paulson has been nominated for an Emmy three times. So no one was surprised when American Crime Story pushed her over the top.

Paulson won her first Emmy for portraying prosecutor Marcia Clark in the first season of the anthology series, subtitled The People v. O.J. Simpson. She was absent from the second season, titled, The Assassination of Gianni Versace

Paulson will portray Linda Tripp this season

Get ready for another award-winning (or, at the very least, award-nominated) performance from Paulson in the upcoming season of American Crime Story, about the impeachment of Bill Clinton and the White House scandal involving Monica Lewinsky

Paulson will portray Linda Tripp, a co-worker of Lewinsky’s who encouraged her to make her sexual relationship and allegations against the then-president public. Tripp also recorded her phone conversations with Lewinsky, which she then used in exchange for immunity given her knowledge of the affair.

Is this why she isn’t in American Horror Story: 1984?

As previously stated, Paulson is practically synonymous with American Horror Story. She has appeared in every season of the anthology series, and it has earned her plenty of Emmy nominations. However, we learned in July 2019 that she does not have a role in the upcoming season, subtitled 1984.

Could the reason for her lack of involvement be an overlap in production? It’s certainly possible. Paulson has expressed her love of acting in American Horror Story in the past, and many were confused as to why she wasn’t cast in 1984. It may just be a question of not enough time to make it all work.

The actress is busy with even more upcoming roles

And Impeachment isn’t all Paulson has on her plate. Seriously, this woman never stops working. She currently has three films in post-production: drama The Goldfinch, animated flick Abominable, and 2020 thriller Run

As far as TV goes, Murphy, who recently signed a new deal with Netflix, has brought Paulson with him for Ratched, in which she’ll star as the eponymous nurse from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. She also has a role in the upcoming FX miniseries Mrs. America opposite other incredible actresses such as Cate Blanchett and Uzo Aduba.
