‘Saturday Night Live’: Will Ferrell Is Set to Host Again Pushing Him into the Five-Timers Club
The sketch show has a revolving door of guest hosts. Saturday Night Live recently had some new faces with Awkwafina and Sandra Oh hosting for the first time.
There have been returning hosts too and that is going to include Will Ferrell. Find out when his upcoming appearance will be and more about the five-timers club.
There are a select few celebrities in the five-timers club
Saturday Night Live is hard even for professional performers. That’s why there is a list of them who will never host again.
There is also a select few celebrities who can say they have hosted five times. That includes Tina Fey, Bill Murray, Candice Bergen, Ben Affleck, and Justin Timberlake who have hosted at least five times.
Then there are the celebrities who are in the club but go beyond the amount in the name. Chevy Chase has hosted eight times and Alec Baldwin has hosted the most at 18 times.
It’s obvious that most people on the list are former cast members of the show. When they make their return they’re able to not only keep up with the show, but make references to their past performances.
Will Ferrell was a cast member from 1995 to 2002
Ferrell was a cast member on the sketch-comedy show from 1995 to 2002. One of his most remembered characters is him impersonating George W. Bush, Alex Trebek, and more.
He reportedly didn’t want to be the guy who graduated high school who still stuck around, according to the Chicago Tribune. “It’s kind of like dog years,” he said when talking about his career.
Ferrell went on to have a movie career like other former Saturday Night Live cast members. It’s obvious the funny man still remembers his roots because he has returned to the show since his exit.
Ferrell is hosting on Nov. 23
The comedian is returning to the show to host again on Nov. 23. King Princess will be the musical guest for the episode, according to the show’s latest Instagram post.
Ferrell previously returned as a guest host in 2005, 2009, 2012, and 2018. His cold open appearance last year had him return as President George W. Bush.
“Like I was saying I don’t know if you’ve seen the news. But according to a new poll, my approval rating is at an all-time high,” he said. “That’s right, Donnie Q. Trump came in and suddenly I’m looking pretty sweet by comparison. At this rate I might even end up on Mt. Rushmore right next to Washington, Lincoln, and I want to say Kensington. I don’t know.”
He continued, “But the point is I’m suddenly popular af and a lot of people are saying, ‘Man, I wish George W. Bush was still our president right about now. So I just want to address my fellow Americans tonight and remind you guys that I was really bad…like historically not good.”
It’ll be interesting to see if Ferrell will use his impersonation again to address politics. Or if he’ll make an appearance as another familiar character.
