See Meghan Markle’s Baby Shower Cookies and More From Her Shower
Meghan Markle’s New York City baby shower has come and gone and we’re sure it was as chic and unfussy as her wardrobe.
Markle flew to New York City over the weekend and caught up with friends before her shower this week.
Get a peek inside the shower thanks to Markle’s guests and see just how adorable the cookies were at the shower.
Amal Clooney attended the shower
The guest list for the baby shower included Amal Clooney, who Markle’s been friends with for a few years now after Prince Harry introduced them.
Clooney gave Markle restaurant recommendations when she moved to London and introduced her to her hairstylist, who Markle now works with on a regular basis.
Markle’s shower had a contingent of her actor friends including Abigail Spencer who worked with Markle on Suits, and Janina Gavankar who’s known for her work on The League, True Blood, and Star Wars: Battlefront II.
Other guests in attendance included Gayle King, fashion designer Misha Nonoo, Markus Anderson of London’s SoHo House members-only club, stylist Jessica Mulroney, tennis star Serena Williams, makeup artist Daniel Martin, fitness guru Taryn Toomey, and Markle’s friends from her college days at Northwestern University, according to ET.
Daniel Martin, the makeup artist responsible for Markle’s wedding day makeup look, attended her baby shower at The Mark Hotel on the Upper East Side of New York City.
Following the event, he shared a picture of sugar cookies decorated with black, white, and gold icing featuring a stork, a rattle, and a bib on Instagram. He captioned the photo, “Such an incredible celebrating #babylove,” followed by three emojis.
Serena Williams was all of us in stretchy pants
Another close friend of Markle’s is tennis player, Serena Williams, who also attended the shower.
Posing in a bathroom mirror at what looks to be The Mark hotel where the baby shower was being held, Williams expressed her gratitude for a a pair of stretchy pants from her Serena clothing line. Part of the caption read, “I seriously am grateful for these pants. I needed them today.”
A world-renowned chef cooked
Markle’s love of food undoubtedly meant there was incredible food at her baby shower besides the adorable cookies Martin featured on his Instagram.
French chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, handled the food for the shower. He prepares food at The Mark and made an exclusive Fashion Week lunchbox in 2018, according to The New York Times.
Some of his most well-known dishes are his molten chocolate cake and ginger fried rice. Guests got to enjoy cotton candy in addition to the cookies and food by Vongerichten because a cotton candy machine was seen entering the hotel prior to the shower, according to ET.
Guests arranged flowers
Forget the typical baby shower games. Markle is anything but typical and her shower reflected that.
Instead of games, Markle and her friends arranged flowers. Before the shower, a cart of blue and pink hydrangeas (one of Markle’s go-to blooms) were seen being wheeled into the hotel.
