See Who ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Ellen Pompeo Dubs the Most Inspiring Women Right Now

Ellen Pompeo is the highest-paid actress on a primetime drama series, but she didn’t get there by chance. She is the star of the show that has generated nearly $3 billion for ABC’s parent company, Disney. Yet, Pompeo had to fight for her small piece of that revenue. Shonda Rhimes helped to empower Pompeo to ask for what she wanted. Now Pompeo is the producer of Grey’s Anatomy and co-producer of the spinoff, Station 19

Pompeo wants to empower other women out there, including her own daughter. Let’s take a look at who Pompeo feels are the most inspiring women right now.

Pompeo applauds Christy Turlington Burns at the InStyle Magazine Awards

Pompeo took to Instagram after the 2019 InStyle Magazine Awards to commend several inspirational women. One of those women was Christy Turlington Burns, the founder of the organization Every Mother Counts.

The Grey’s Anatomy Star publicly thanked InStyle Magazine for recognizing Burns’ work. Pompeo wrote that Burns is “beyond inspiring” and that, “There is a link in my bio if you’d like to check out or donate to this most amazing work that Christy has dedicated her life to.”

Every Mother Counts is “dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother, everywhere.” Burns founded the organization in 2010 after going through her own pregnancy complications. She is determined to help others around the globe.

Immediately following the InStyle Magazine Awards, Pompeo posted a picture of herself with five of the women from the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team. Pompeo was very excited to have the privilege of presenting the Badass Women Award to this group of phenomenal women.

She wrote, “This team made up of 23 players broke all kinds of records with the broadcasts of their games as well as the merchandise sales. They inspire women and girls all over the world with their work ethic, fighting spirit, and all-around positivity.”

Five representatives from the team took the stage to accept the award from presenter Pompeo: Alex Morgan, Ali Krieger, Ashlyn Harris, Carli Lloyd, and Kelley O’Hara. Morgan spoke for the team to tell the audience that they will continue to fight for everything that it believed in during the FIFA Women’s World Cup. She promises that equal pay and social justice will always be worth standing up for.

Its no surprise that Pompeo was the one asked to present this award since she recently fought for equal pay for her work on Grey’s Anatomy.

Pompeo also recognized the editor-in-chief of InStyle Magazine, Laura Brown

Pompeo has nothing but amazing things to say about the editor-in-chief of InStyle Magazine, Laura Brown. Pompeo wrote, “Last but not least, this ray of sunshine @laurabrown99 who uses the platform she has been given at @instylemagazine to celebrate all women… (and a few men) and has pointed a different lens on what makes women beautiful powerful and inspiring.”

The Grey’s Anatomy star continues, “ Thank you gorgeous for thinking completely outside the box and bringing a super refreshing and much-needed fun vibe to the fashion mag world. You are a breath of fresh air.”

Pompeo gave a phenomenal speech at the InStyle Awards Ceremony asking everyone to, “Raise a glass and toast to all of us disruptors who have been loud, who have demanded equality, who have fought for ourselves and more importantly our sisters.”

Pompeo is instrumental in fighting for equal pay for women, not just in acting, but in every career.
