Selena Gomez, Brendon Urie, and More Celebs Rally Behind Taylor Swift In Scooter Braun Drama
Everyone needs friends like the ones Taylor Swift has.
Following months of public disputes with Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta, the singer has once again come to blows with her former record label execs and her celebrity friends continue to come to her defense.
Swift is fighting for the rights to perform her own music
Just when we thought this Taylor Swift/Scooter Braun drama was all over, more information is now coming to light.
On November 14, the singer took to social media to share with fans where she currently stands with Braun and his record company.
In her post, Swift reveals that Braun and Borchetta are restricting her from performing a medley of her hit songs during this year’s American Music Awards, where she is being honored with the Artist of the Decade Award.
“Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun have now said that I’m not allowed to perform my old songs on television because they claim that would be re-recording my music before I’m allowed to next year,” she wrote in a candid post.
Swift went on to admit that the label execs are holding her music captive and are now telling her that she may even have to put other music related projects on hold.
“Scott and Scooter have declined the user of my older music or performance footage of the [Netflix] project, even though there is no mention of either of them or Big Machine Records anywhere in the film,” she revealed.
“Scott Borchetta told my team that they’ll allow me to use my music only if I do these things: If I agree to not re-record copycat versions of my songs next year (which is something I’m both legally allowed to do and looking forward to) and also told my team that I need to stop talking about him and Scooter Braun,” Swift continued.
The singer doesn’t know what to do now and is urging fans to “please let Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun know how you feel about this.”
“Scooter also manages several artists who I really believe care about other artists and their work,” she added. “Please ask them for help with this—I’m hoping that maybe they can talk some sense into the men who are exercising tyrannical control over someone who just wants to play the music she wrote… I just want to be able to perform MY OWN music. That’s it.”
Fans and celebs continue to show their support for Swift
Since sharing her post, Swift has received an outpouring of support from fans and celebrity friends who hate that the singer is going through this kind of drama.
So far, many celebs have taken to social media to not only rally behind the singer, but also slam Braun and Borchetta for what they’re doing to her.
A-listers like Ed Sheeran, Brendon Urie, Camila Cabello, Halsey, supermodel Gigi Hadid, and Ruby Rose have all expressed how angered they are by the record execs actions.
Swift’s BFF, Selena Gomez, went as far as to drag Braun and Borchetta for robbing the “Me!” singer of the one thing that make her who she is.
“My heart is so heavy right now,” Gomez wrote on her Instagram Story. “It makes me sick and extremely angry. (I don’t mind if there may be retaliation) this is my opinion. It’s greed, manipulation and power. There is no heart or thought of anyone else’s. No respect for the words my friend has written since she was a 14 year old I her bedroom. You’ve robbed and crushed one of our best song writers of our time an opportunity to celebrate all of her music with fans and the world.”
Gomez went on to call her friend the “most dedicated, fearless, feisty, strongest woman I’ve ever known,” adding that Swift is “a woman with true identity and strength who takes no sh*t.”
The “Lose You to Love Me” singer ends her post by writing, “I really hope there is a change of heart over this unfortunate situation.”
“Seeing my best friend (or any of my friends) be constantly pulled down is the worst feeling. Taylor fights,” she continued. “She will never stop fighting. People grow from choices. Some will stay exactly the same. I just want a change of heart. I love you.”
