Selena Gomez Firmly Responds to Fan Backlash Against Hailey Bieber

Selena Gomez just dropped two new songs — “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look At Her Now” — in the span of 24 hours. But, it seems the excitement has been marred by a hint of drama. Following the release of the second track on Oct. 24, the singer-songwriter went to Instagram Live and opened up about her new bops. However, Gomez also had to call out fans who wrote hateful comments about Justin Bieber’s wife, Hailey Bieber. So maybe now the nonsense will finally stop.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Gomez opened up about the situation without specifying anyone by name. However, given recent events, it was pretty obvious Gomez was referring to Hailey.

“I am so grateful for the response the song is getting,” Gomez said on Instagram Live. “However, I do not stand for women tearing other women down. I will never, ever be by that.”

She then told her fans to be kind to others, regardless of how they’re feeling. “Please be kind to everyone,” she stated. “It doesn’t matter what the situation is. If you’re my fans, don’t be rude to anybody, please. Don’t go off and say things that you just feel in the moment.”

The “Wolves” singer then assured everyone that the backlash was not her intention. “Just please, know that’s not my heart,” Gomez shared. “My heart is only to release things that I feel are me and that I’m proud of.”

Gomez later echoed her statement, reminding fans to remain respectful, per E! News.

Please be kind, I don’t like seeing people being disrespectful or rude to other people, so please don’t do that,” she said.

Why fans thought Hailey Bieber dissed Selena Gomez

Following the release of “Lose You to Love Me,” most fans speculated Gomez’s new song was about Justin. For those of you who don’t remember, the two artists had an on-and-off-again relationship with for many years. However, they eventually broke up and Justin married Hailey.

Meanwhile, Hailey posted a screenshot of “I’ll Kill You” by Summer Walker to her Instagram Story not long after “Lose You to Love Me” dropped. Fans quickly believed Hailey was responding to Gomez’s lyrics. And in turn, they jumped on the 22-year-old model and accused her of dissing Gomez.

Although now deleted, Hailey responded to one of the accusations, according to People.

“Please stop with this nonsense… there is no ‘response,'” she wrote. “This is complete BS.”

Selena Gomez releases two new tracks

Despite the rumors surrounding Gomez’s recent releases, it seems the two tracks mainly focus on the singer’s journey to self-love and the start of a new era in music.

“This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album,” Gomez commented on the “Lose You to Love Me” music video. “I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself.”

Meanwhile, Gomez explained of releasing “Look At Her Now” immediately after “Lose You to Love Me.”

“I was so excited to release two songs back to back and surprise my fans,” she wrote in the comment section for the video. “It’s a reminder that you can rise no matter what challenges life brings.”

Regardless of how you feel about Hailey’s social media post, Gomez makes it clear there’s no need to attack. The singer’s new music is meant to empower, not dismantle. So, to repeat what Gomez said during her Instagram Live, be kind.
