How does Selena Gomez feel about Justin Bieber today?

Justin Bieber has been married to Hailey Baldwin since September 2018. Though their nuptials came as a shock to Gomez and the world, the songstress took it all in stride. It’s clear that the on-again, off-again romance with Bieber was taking its toll on Gomez. In fact, when Bieber got into a very public spat with Taylor Swift this past summer, the Lover songstress hinted that the reason for Bieber and Gomez’s constant breakups was due to the “Don’t Check On Me” singer’s infidelity.

In September 2019, just before Bieber and Baldwin’s formal wedding ceremony, an insider told Us Weekly,

Selena knows she’s better off without Justin, and that it’s the healthiest decision for her. She is open to dating, but right now she is solely focused on herself and enjoying life to the best of her ability, and getting back to being the Selena that she and all of her close ones knew prior to dating Justin.

Do the ‘Lose You To Love Me’ lyrics discuss Justin Bieber?

Though Bieber is not named directly in Gomez’s new single, there are certainly some lyrical references to about their tumultuous relationship. In verse one she sings,

You promised the world and I fell for it
I put you first and you adored it
Set fires to my forest
And you let it burn
Sang off-key in my chorus
‘Cause it wasn’t yours
I saw the signs and I ignored it
Rose-colored glasses all distorted
Set fire to my purpose
And I let it burn
You got off on the hurtin’
When it wasn’t yours, yeah

However, the most direct reference to Bieber comes in verse two when Gomez references Bieber moving on to Baldwin so quickly after their last split in 2018. She sings,

I gave my all and they all know it
You turned me down and now it’s showing
In two months, you replaced us
Like it was easy
Made me think I deserved it
In the thick of healing, yeah

We think it’s brave when any artist is able to share their vulnerabilities with the world, and we’re just glad that Gomez is using her craft to heal.
