Serena Williams’ Amazing Interview Response to Meghan Markle’s L.A. Move: ‘Don’t Know Her’

Meghan Markle and Serena Williams have been best friends for a long time. And when Meghan became a royal, Serena had her back — and still does. The tennis star refuses to speak badly about her friend, and they’ve managed to stay in touch through all of Meghan’s life changes over the past few years.

Serena was recently asked about Meghan’s move to Los Angeles — and she had the perfect response.

Meghan Markle’s friends have stood by her during her battle with the press

When Meghan started dating Prince Harry, life probably felt like a fairytale. But the Duchess of Sussex was quickly hit with a reality check: The media. No matter what Meghan did, the media was on her case for everything, from her family life to her past relationships to her alleged feud with Kate Middleton. And the press didn’t take her side in any of the situations.

Meghan’s friends, however, always had her back. Though few of them spoke to the media, the ones who did had glowing things to say about her. And when Meghan was pregnant with Archie, her friends flew to New York City from all corners of the country just to spend a few days with her.

Meghan once flew all the way to the United States to watch Serena play tennis

These days, Harry and Meghan are living in the U.S., but before their move, Meghan still made her way over here a few times to see her friends. When Serena was playing in the U.S Open final back in September 2019, Meghan made the trip all the way across the pond to cheer on her best friend. Unfortunately, Serena ended up losing the match.

It once again became a moment for people to shun Meghan. It had been the third time Meghan had attended a match only to have Serena lose, and Business Insider reported that Serena’s fans were calling Meghan a “jinx” and a “bad omen” after the loss. Still, though, their friendship was rock solid.

Serena joked that she’s ‘never heard of her’ when asked about Meghan

Serena recently joined supermodel Naomi Campbell for an interview on Naomi’s YouTube channel, and, of course, Naomi asked Serena about her friendship with the duchess. “Are you happy that your girlfriend’s moved to America? Meghan Markle?” Naomi asked.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, don’t know nothing about that,” Serena replied, laughing. Naomi then made a comment about Meghan Markle moving to the west coast, and Serena said, “Never seen her, never heard of her, don’t know her,” followed by whistling. Of course, Serena was joking and clearly just didn’t want to discuss Meghan, but it was the perfect way to dodge the question.

The two will likely spend much more time together after the move

Meghan now lives in the Los Angeles area, and Serena spends time on both sides of the country. These days, nobody is hanging out because of stay-at-home orders in place, but once life returns to normal, it’s assumed that Meghan and Serena will be spending more time together.

Meghan didn’t have too many people on her side while living in the United Kingdom, and she Harry are likely hoping things will be easier for her now that she’s closer to her mother and friends.
