Shay Mitchell On New Show ‘Dollface’, Her Co-Stars, & How She’ll Raise Her Baby
Actress Shay Mitchell has, for the past few weeks, enjoyed sharing her pregnancy with her fans. Now, she’s opening up about what it was like to shoot her new series, Dollface, while pregnant, as well as her hopes for her baby’s future.
This is what you know Mitchell from
Mitchell is best known for starring in the popular Freeform series Pretty Little Liars, where she portrayed Emily Fields. Before that, Mitchells appeared in an episode of the Canadian teen soap Degrassi: The Next Generation, sharing a scene with The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev.
She recently announced her pregnancy
Mitchell is, like many stars her age, very active on social media. She uses her platforms, especially Instagram, to share glances into her life, her upcoming projects, and her side hustles, including her luxury luggage brand, Beis.
The actress has also taken the time to reveal personal information, albeit carefully. After telling fans that she suffered a miscarriage in 2018, she and her boyfriend, Matte Babel, shared that they were again expecting. They posted a hilarious gender reveal video on YouTube, which kicked off her new series on the video platform.
Here’s what Dollface is about
Mitchell is headed back to TV with her new Hulu comedy, Dollface. Not much has been revealed about the series or Mitchell’s role as Stella Cole, thus far, but here’s what we know to date.
According to Deadline, Dollface “follows a young woman who – after being dumped by her longtime boyfriend – must deal with her own imagination in order to literally and metaphorically re-enter the world of women, and rekindle the female friendships she left behind.”
Who are Mitchell’s co-stars?
Once again, Mitchell is surrounded by a host of incredible young women. In the lead role of Jules is Kat Dennings, who you may recognize from the series Raising Dad and 2 Broke Girls. Dennings has also fared well in film, appearing in movies such as Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist and the first two Thor flicks.
Brenda Song portrays Madison Maxwell. Song first rose to prominence in the Disney Channel series The Suite Life of Zach and Cody and has since starred in films like The Social Network and shows such as Scandal and Dads. Writer and comedian Esther Povitzsky (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Alone Together) rounds out the main cast.
She’s ready for motherhood
When asked about sharing her hopes for her daughter, Mitchell stayed on message. “I hope she enjoys Dollface when she grows up, and I hope she has really good friends around her like I did on and off the show. That is what I hope,” she told Access.
As a mother, Mitchell says she wants to be “a good role model. Just prove that she can do whatever she wants to do. That goes for everyone out there. So, you can do it all.” Her castmates agree that she’ll be a great mom, joking that she’ll order delivery frequently. “She will always have food. That is what I can say,” laughed Mitchell.
