Shep Rose From ‘Southern Charm’ Recreates a Moment From ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’

In many ways, Shep Rose from Southern Charm is a grown-up Ferris Bueller. He definitely seems to subscribe to the philosophy, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Like Ferris, Rose yearns for adventure whenever he possible. Luckily for his fans, he often posts about his travels and exploits on social media. He’s partied with rock stars and golfed with comedians. Rose also shares plenty of tender images with friends and family too.

Most recently, Rose ventured out west to hang in Palm Springs, California. While there, he shared some Hollywood trivia about beloved 80s film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Plus recreated a scene in front of the iconic Bueller home that no one should miss.

Rose shares on his Instagram story that although Ferris Bueller’s Day Off was set in Chicago, Illinois, it was filmed in Long Beach, California. He included a hashtag, “lied to” along with his post.

Since Rose brought it up, other lesser known facts include the Ferrari Cameron and Ferris drove wasn’t actually a real Ferrari, according to Mental Floss. Also, Alan Ruck, who played Cameron and Matthew Broderick (Ferris) were pals before the movie filmed.

Before the movie filmed, Broderick and Jennifer Grey, who played Ferris’s pesky sister, Jeanie, got engaged. Also, Broderick hurt his knee filming the scenes where he runs home. So he was unable to perform most of the choreography for the “Twist and Shout” parade scene.

Speaking of the ‘running home’ scene…

Rose found the iconic Bueller home during his west coast visit. Already feeling betrayed that the movie was shot in California, he decided to recreate one scene.

One of the last scenes was of Ferris running through backyards and through neighbor’s homes to get home before his parents discovered he was not sick in bed. Rose graciously snapped a picture of the home, which he posted to Instagram. “This is the House that ‘they’ would have you believe that Ferris Bueller grew up in. It’s in Long Beach, Ca., not suburban Chicago. (This is where the house footage was filmed) I know it’s heartbreaking, but it’s also awesome. Please scroll to see my pathetic and fairly bizarre attempt to recreate his mad dash through the neighborhood to perpetuate his ‘sick day’ charade.”

He also included a video that should not be missed. Rose’s buddy tells him the camera is rolling, which cues Rose to start running down the street. He mimics hopping over hedges as he races up the driveway. Rose and his friend laugh as he makes it around the circle driveway and back into the street. In the words of Cameron mocking Bueller, “Ferris Bueller [Shep Rose] you’re my hero.”
