Shep Rose Says ‘Southern Charm’ Season 7 Hasn’t Started Filming the Next Season Yet

Southern Charm season six wrapped in August and the cast is usually already filming the following season in the fall.

While the show was met with lackluster ratings and without Thomas Ravenel, fans anticipated the show would return with a seventh season. Bravo hasn’t officially announced a new season, but several cast members will be hosting a Southern Charm-style brunch at BravoCon. Currently, cast members like Craig Conover, Kathryn Dennis, Austen Kroll and will appear at the coveted New York City event.

But what about that seventh season? Shep Rose addressed an upcoming season on The Ross Bolen podcast and says the typical filming cycle has yet to commence. Does that mean the show will be on hiatus? Or even canceled?

Filming has yet to begin

Rose mused about how Southern Charm came to fruition, plus shared that filming typically begins shortly after the previous televised season ends. But this year seems to be a little different.

Bolen asks how the filming schedule works with Southern Charm. “We’ve done six seasons,” Rose says. But Bolen wonders if the cast had a break between seasons with regard to filming. “No, we’ve rock and rolled,” Rose replies regarding every season up until now.

But he says while the latest season just ended on television, he doesn’t know if there will indeed be another season. “Usually we film in the fall,” he says. “I don’t know if we are going to do another season. But we’re not doing one now.”

Does this mean no seventh season?

Although Rose shared that the cast isn’t currently filming, he doesn’t think this is the end of the road for the show either. “If I had a gun to my head, I’d say that they’d want us to do another season,” he shares. “The ratings were pretty good.” He then continues to discuss how the show was created and came to light on Bravo.

Rose felt that ratings were still pretty good for the show. Indeed, early into season six, Southern Charm took the top spot, according to TV By the Numbers. Among adults 18-49 for Wednesday, June 5, 2019, Southern Charm was number one with a 0.5 rating. Although the series dropped slightly by July, it was still considered to be a highly rated show amongst its key demographic.

But, according to Showbuzz Daily, August numbers for Southern Charm were looking rather anemic. While the soapy Southern docudrama held onto a top 10 spot, it wasn’t drawing the same numbers as it was earlier in the season.

The cast has been busy with other projects this fall

Rose and Austen Kroll appear to be busy traveling this fall. While Cameran Eubanks has been spending plenty of quality family time with her daughter, husband, and friends.

Chelsea Meissner is just off an amazing fishing excursion, meanwhile, Naomie Olindo and Metul Shaw seem to be going strong. Kathryn Dennis is sharing photos of her children on Instagram and all appears to be going well with her friendship with Danni Baird.

Craig Conover has been busy with his fun pillow parties, plus he and Rose donated money to the storm-torn Bahamas for hurricane relief efforts.
