Should Jordyn Woods Take a Lie Detector Test About Her Cheating Scandal?

Ever since the cheating scandal between Jordyn Woods, Kylie Jenner’s longtime best friend, and Khloe Kardashian’s boyfriend, Tristan Thompson, was unveiled, the tabloids haven’t been able to stop talking about it.

While the Kardashian family is still going through the various stages of shock and betrayal, the producers of their reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, are thinking ahead and plotting ways to make the latest season of the show, premiering in late March, even more interesting.

How do the Kardashians feel about Woods?

While the initial reaction from the entire Kardashian family was harsh, they seem to be trying to find their own ways of coping with the situation, including ways for Woods to slowly make her way back into the inner circle. Woods had been enjoying business collaborations with both Kylie Jenner and Khloe Kardashian, but in the wake of the cheating scandal, those deals seem to have been shelved.

However, latest reports have claimed that Jenner is exchanging text messages with her onetime bestie, and this could be opening the door to re-establish real communication. Khloe Kardashian even seems to be softening her position on Woods, and after some angry initial Twitter posts, has claimed that she doesn’t blame Jordyn Woods for the breakdown of her family and that the real fault lies with Tristan Thompson, a known cheater.

The rest of the family hasn’t spoken publicly about the scandal, and could possibly be waiting to see how Kylie Jenner and Khloe Kardashian, the two that were closest to Woods, will ultimately handle it.

Will Woods take a lie detector test on the show?

Talks of a lie detector test first surfaced during the episode of “Red Table Talk” that Woods did with Jada Pinkett Smith. During the emotional interview, Woods gave her version of events and claimed that while Thompson did, in fact, kiss her, the kiss was one-sided and that nothing else untoward had happened. She also claimed that if the Kardashians wanted to verify the authenticity of her story, she would be willing to take a lie detector test.

The producers of Keeping Up With the Kardashians seem to want to take her up on that offer. A new report claims that the showrunners are desperate to have Woods take the lie detector test onscreen in the new season of the show, preferably administered by family matriarch Kris Jenner. According to this same report, the family is divided on the idea – while most of the family could get on board with the on-camera test, Khloe Kardashian is supposedly still struggling, not only with the lie detector test but with Woods herself.

Kardashian is likely still uncertain about whether she even wants to get back in touch with Woods following the cheating scandal, and having her back on the reality show could be very difficult for her.

Are lie detector tests even accurate?

While the idea of Woods taking a lie detector test to determine the truth of her affair with Thompson is intriguing, the science behind the tests is spotty at best. According to the American Psychological Association, the tests don’t actually detect whether someone is telling the truth – the test just measures the subject’s heart rate and blood pressure while the subject responds to a series of questions. The idea is that the person taking the test would experience elevated blood pressure and faster heart rate if they were asked a question that they “feared.”

Therefore, even though the tests are popular in pop culture and media, they aren’t actually admissible in court in most cases, simply because the results are too subjective to be used as evidence. So while there’s a chance that fans could see Jordyn Woods taking a lie detector test on camera, the results should not be taken as the gospel – or, as the Kardashians say, “bible” – truth.
