‘Prodigal Son’

Fox’s Prodigal Son is a unique take on serial killers with a twist. The main character, Malcolm Bright (Tom Payne), is the son of a convicted serial killer. He is able to get into the minds of people who commit terrible crimes like no other. His unique insight into solving murders greatly enhances the work of the police he’s helping, but at a cost to himself. Bright gets back in touch with his father, Dr. Martin Whitly (Michael Sheen), and slowly starts to unravel. Prodigal Son is available on Hulu to stream.

‘Mindhunter’

Netflix’s Mindhunter takes a look at the early days of the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit. The main characters include Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff), Bill Trench (Holt McCallany), and Wendy Carr (Anna Torv). A number of high-profile killers are highlighted in the series including Edmund Kemper, Jerry Brudos, and Charles Manson. The series is extremely easy to binge and includes two seasons on the streaming platform.

‘Law & Order: SVU’

NBC’s Law & Order: SVU is a very practical approach to get over the loss of Criminal Minds. With 21 seasons that are literally all available on Hulu, it’s kind of hard to find a reason not to love the show. The early seasons follow Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and her partner Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni). They deal with sexual offenses and get justice for the victims in the streets of New York City. They encounter rapists, abusers, and serial killers. This show is perfect for anyone looking for a new go-to crime-based drama. It’ll take you a little time to get through the entire series so far. New episodes are currently streaming as well.

‘NCIS’

CBS’s NCIS follows Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), who is a former Marine gunnery sergeant. He’s an extremely likable character leading a group of highly-skilled individuals. Together they solve cases within the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. The show is always interesting and will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. There’s everything from terrorism to murder with the most unique plots you could ever possibly imagine. Seasons 1 through 15 are available to stream on Netflix.

‘Blue Bloods’

CBS’ Blue Bloods is a story about a family that spans multiple generations. The Reagans are a complicated bunch that always seem to put each other first before the call of duty. The law enforcement family stays together as they tackle cases that sometimes hit a little too close to home. At their head is Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), the New York City Police Commissioner. He keeps his family close and they always make time for each other, especially at their famous Sunday dinners. Fans can get caught up with the Reagan family on both Netflix and Hulu with seasons 1 through 8 now streaming.

These are just a few shows that Criminal Minds fans will surely enjoy. It’s hard when a great series ends, but sometimes it leaves room for you to explore other amazing television shows. Viewers won’t be disappointed with the ones mentioned.
