‘Silicon Valley’: When Does Season 6 Premiere?

HBO’s comedic (yet realistic) take on the Northern California tech world, Silicon Valley, gave a glimpse into the makings of a startup. With one final round of episodes before it’s gone for good, here’s when to expect the Emmy award-winning show.

Who stars in ‘Silicon Valley’?

Silicon Valley has a lively crew. Thomas Middleditch plays lead computer programmer, Richard Hendricks. His co-creators include Erlich Bachman played by T.J. Miller (who left in season 4), Bertram Gilfoyle, played by Martin Starr and Kumail Nanjiani as Dinesh Chugtai.

Also joining the gang are Zach Woods as the ever-affable Jared Dunn and Nelson “Big Head” Bighetti played by Josh Brener. Together, they’re in perfect harmony.

What is ‘Silicon Valley’ about?

The show, created by Mike Judge, John Atlschuler, and Dave Krinsky, follows five men who found a tech startup. The main character, computer programmer, Richard, creates Pied Piper, which has a one-of-a-kind data compression algorithm.

Richard hires help from Erlich Bachman’s business incubator, to fund the startup. His goal is to get it off the ground before another company (Hooli) finds a way to duplicate the algorythm. Gilfoyle and Dinesh, and Jared, who was outed at tech competitor, Hooli, are part of Richard’s tech team.

Meanwhile, friend and former partner in Pied Piper, “Big Head” gets promoted at Hooli, despite having zero merit. He’s nothing if not comic relief.

The first few seasons of Silicon Valley set up Richard’s intense work ethic to make Pied Piper the go-to data compression app. He’s awkward and self-aggrandizing, and often seen as the butt of a joke.

If it all sounds very Facebook-like, the behind-the-scenes bits about how the tech wizards design and struggle to get on top is all too real.

When does ‘Silicon Valley’ Season 6 premiere?

HBO announced Silicon Valley will return with an abbreviated season (only seven episodes, as reported by Variety), on Sunday, October 27 at 9 p.m. EST (on HBO).

The show airs around HBO’s hit conglomerate show, Succession, the Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson’s athletic dramady, Ballers, and Late Week Tonight with John Oliver. There is definitely worse company Silicon Valley could keep.

What will happen in season 6?

Also similar to the Facebook hearings, Richard finds himself testifying in front of Congress in season 6. With no plans to drag the show on any longer, Richard’s fate (and that of all things tech) will wrap up by the series finale.

Creator, Judge, told The Hollywood Reporter awhile back, “Season five would be the second-to-last, yeah. That’s how we were talking when we were setting up this season finale, just to help us in the writing. But you never know. It could be that it gets to six and someone has some idea.”

Turn in to see all of Richard’s shenanigans before Congress, and what becomes of his tech creations. With only seven episodes to the end, it’ll be a bittersweet, and probably hilarious, farewell.

Silicon Valley premieres Sunday, October 27 at 9 p.m. EST on HBO.
