Some ‘Counting On’ Fans Are Concerned Over Joy-Anna Duggar’s Ultrasound She Posted to Instagram
From their modest dress code to their bizarre family rules, the Duggars have maintained their stardom for years because they’re a family unlike any other. And they’re also famous just because of their sheer size. Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have 19 kids, and now, they’re all growing up fast. And Joy-Anna Duggar, who many may remember as a child when the family first attained fame, is all grown up and married with a son of her own.
Joy-Anna married Austin Forsyth in 2017, and they’re already gearing up for baby No. 2. The happy couple have a 14-month-old son, Gideon, People reminds us — and while fans certainly have their opinions about their family expansion, they’re also worried about a recent ultrasound Joy-Anna posted to Instagram.
Joy-Anna Duggar recently posted an ultrasound of her baby at 10 weeks
They’re certainly not the only Duggar couple who are expecting a baby in the near future, but Joy-Anna and Austin are over the moon that they’re expanding their family so soon. People notes Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are equally as excited, too. “A new baby will bring even more joy and blessings to their lives and ours. We are on cloud nine that another grandbaby will make a debut in 2019!” Joy-Anna’s happy parents said. As for what Joy-Anna and Austin had to say, they announced, “We are looking forward to loving another little one and seeing what special dynamic he or she brings to our family. Table for 4 sounds perfect!”
Joy-Anna and Austin are doing their best to give fans updates on the growth of the baby, too. They posted their 10-week ultrasound to Instagram and announced they just have six and a half months to go before the baby arrives. “Finally got our 10 week ultrasound video downloaded!! Look how tiny it’s little arms and legs are!!” the couple wrote.
One fan showed concern over getting an ultrasound that early on
Many Duggar fans are just as excited as the happy couple for a second Forsyth baby, and we’ve even seen some of the other Duggar family members comment on the post. “What a precious little miracle!” Jessa commented, and Josh Duggar’s wife, Anna, added, “Such a precious little life!” Unfortunately (and expectedly), not every comment was positive, however. One of Joy-Anna’s followers commented, “Ultrasound is bad for your baby especially that early. Please do some research.”
In reality, all medical procedures come with some risks, and that includes prenatal ultrasounds. But WebMD notes there’s zero evidence to support that a prenatal ultrasound will harm the baby. Fans showed their additional support for Joy-Anna and Austin by dismissing the condemning message, too. As one follower commented, “the benefits of having a ultrasound outweighs any risks if any at all!!! If ultrasound was that bad drs wouldn’t do them!” But the original poster fired back, “if you actually truly believe that doctors do no harm your head is very definitely buried in the sand.”
Others fans worry she could go through another difficult pregnancy
It’s not just the ultrasound that has fans talking. People reminds us Joy-Anna’s first experience with birth was very difficult, as she endured 19 hours of labor and then was rushed to the hospital for an emergency C-section when the midwife realized the baby was breech. “Before I went into labor, having a C-section was my greatest fear. That was one of the things that I was scared of. I didn’t want to have to have a C-section,” Joy-Anna said at the time.
We’re not sure if Joy-Anna will attempt another home birth with her second baby, but it seems to be Duggar tradition to try. As one of her followers commented on the ultrasound photo, “Awww sweet! I hope you don’t attempt a VBAC, for your baby’s health and your health. Love y’all!” A “VBAC,” meaning vaginal birth after Caesarean, does come with risks, but Mayo Clinic notes it is an option for many women. We’ll have to wait and see what Joy-Anna and Austin choose as the best course of action for their family.
