Some ‘Counting On’ Fans Are Really Worried About Jinger Duggar’s Move to California

Jinger Duggar and her husband Jeremy Vuolo are moving to California, and that has some fans really worried. The couple, who currently live in Laredo, Texas, made the announcement last month on their blog, explaining that “God has made it overwhelmingly clear to us that he is leading us out of Laredo.”

“We’ve made the decision to move to LA for me to pursue some further theological education and to get plugged in with the church here in California,” Jeremy explained in a video.

Jeremy is currently a student at the Master’s Seminary. The school’s main campus is in L.A.’s San Fernando Valley, and the couple is relocating so he can finish his studies.

The move will mark another big change for Jinger, who already moved from her home state of Arkansas to Texas after she and Jeremy married in 2016. But it’s probably a welcome one in many ways. She’s spoken before about her desire to live in a big city, and a quick glance at her Instagram shows she’s clearly enjoyed exploring all the things Los Angeles has to offer on previous trips to the Golden State.

Some fans are worried

While many fans greeted the news of the Vuolo’s move with excitement, quite a few had reservations, which they didn’t hesitate to voice when Jinger took to Instagram to share her big news.

Some seemed to think that the family of three were moving to a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah. “Sorry but Cali is like Sin City, women will snatch your husband in a heartbeat … it’s such a provocative and demon state for a church girl and small town country girl with ethics and morals like you,” wrote one.

Others warned that California wouldn’t be welcoming to conservatives like them. “It is full of liberals and the people are definitely not the kind you are familiar too. It will be a culture shock. I sure wish you would reconsider moving elsewhere,” warned one concerned follower.

“Just be prepared as the views are going to be a lot different from the ones you guys held dear,” wrote one person who said they were a California resident.

Safety concerns came up too, with several people commenting that L.A. was simply too dangerous. Others told Jinger to be prepared for high taxes. “Good luck with the high taxes and Crimes! Be careful!” wrote one person. “Not sure you’ll like California….watch out for all the taxes!” said another.

Many think Jinger and Jeremy will be just fine

While a few people seemed to think a move to California would result in major culture shock, others pointed out that the Vuolo family was likely to adapt just fine.

“I grew up in the southeast, and I can honestly say that some of the most GENUINE, humble, servant-hearted, Bible teaching, Christ-followers I have ever met were in that city,” one person wrote.

“I’ve lived in the suburbs of LA all my life,” another person chimed in. “Like many other Californians I know, we love Jesus. Please don’t allow some of the negative comments to discourage you.”

Others noted that the Vuolo’s strong faith would help them no matter where they live. “They are strong Christians and LA isn’t anymore steeped in sin than the Bible Belt is … EVERYWHERE needs to hear the Gospel,” wrote another fan. “If God can protect Daniel in the lion’s den, I’m sure they will be fine in LA.”
