Some ‘Counting On’ Fans Think Jill Duggar’s Instagram Post About Christmas Gifts Shows She’s ‘Lazy’
The holiday season is finally upon us, and we know the Duggars will post all of their Christmas celebrations to Instagram. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar first brought their 19 children into the public eye when filming TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On. And since then, we’ve watched the Christian fundamentalist family celebrate many holidays together both on the small screen and on social media.
Jill Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, appear to be the black sheep of the Duggar family. They no longer appear regularly on Counting On, and there are also rumors of a rift between the other Duggars and them.
Despite a possible feud, Jill still keeps her followers apprised with what’s going on in her home — and she’s now purchasing all of her Christmas gifts. Unfortunately, her followers aren’t too happy with what she posted about the presents.
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard are getting their home ready for the holidays
The Duggars take Christmas quite seriously, and it seems Jill and Derick are no different. Jill posted a few photos of her decorations to her Instagram on Dec. 4, and she added even more to her Dillard Family blog.
“We were so excited to finally put up our Christmas decorations for the first time in our new home!” she wrote on the blog. And she included photos of her sons, Israel and Samuel, hanging Christmas decorations on the tree, putting snowflakes on the windows, and building gingerbread houses to get in the holiday spirit.
As for Jill and Derick’s handiwork, they wasted no time getting down to business. They strung up lights outdoors, fully decorated their Christmas tree, and hung all the wreaths and stockings.
While no other Duggars appeared to be present for Jill and Derick’s Christmas decorating, it seems Derick’s mother, Cathy, helped the holiday spirit by giving the kids gingerbread houses. As for Michelle, we’re not sure if she’s made any comment to Jill and Derick on their festive home.
It’s uncertain whether they’ll spend Christmas with the Duggars
Photos of the gigantic Thanksgiving meal that took place at Jim Bob and Michelle’s home were posted to the Duggar Family Instagram. While many of the Duggars along with other local friends were in attendance to celebrate the occasion, Jill and Derick, along with their two kids, were not. Instead, the couple decided to stay home and have their own “Friendsgiving.”
Considering Jill and Derick are local, many wondered if the couple skipping out on the Duggar Thanksgiving is a sign of a family rift. We can’t forget that there have been multiple reports claiming the Duggars don’t get along with Derick. And in mid-November, Derick took to Twitter to slam TLC and claim Jim Bob didn’t tell any of his adult children about the family’s contracts with Counting On.
Even with rumors of a feud, Jill made a cameo appearance on Counting On for Season 10. We’re not sure if Derick is also slated for a return, but perhaps Jill is showing viewers there’s nothing to worry about. As for if the couple will be spending Christmas at the big Arkansas home, we’re not sure.
Jill’s followers are upset she’s buying her gifts from Amazon
While many are intrigued by Jill’s relationship with her family, they’re also focused on her Instagram post showing where she’s getting her gifts this year.
“Anyone else do most of their Christmas shopping online?! It has been a lifesaver for us when it’s tough to do shopping with the kids tagging along,” Jill captioned her post. “Anyone else have tips or favorite places/ways to shop efficiently and wisely?”
Her followers roasted her for shopping online, however.
“Support your local brick and mortar stores. Keep employee’s jobs,” one follower commented.
Another wrote, “online shopping is for people who are lazy.”
Even Amy Duggar added a comment. “I try to support local when I can!! But Amazon and I are like best friends!”
Jill responded to the critique as well. “Love our local places too…just the season of life we are in right now with littles makes it easier to shop online for most things,” Jill diplomatically wrote.
This is far from the worst criticism Jill’s ever received online, so we’re sure she’s unphased by any negative comments. We’re excited to hear more about her and Derick’s Christmas plans.
