Something Happened Between Prince William and Prince Harry But It Wasn’t a Feud
News outlets can’t seem to get enough of the “royal feud” angle. First, it was Meghan Markle, and her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. Now, reports claim that Prince William and Prince Harry are feuding.
How much truth is there to the royal feud rumors? Do William and Harry get along? Read on to find out.
William had doubts about Meghan Markle
Harry and William have very different approaches when it comes to life and love. William takes his time making decisions, thinking everything through carefully- especially when it comes to marriage. He dated Kate Middleton for eight years before they made it official.
Perhaps this is because William was older when his parents’ marriage split apart and so he, therefore, understands the need for serious contemplation.
Harry, on the other hand, decided he wanted to marry Markle after less than a year of dating. Understandably, William thought they were moving too quickly, and he let Harry know this. The comments left Harry feeling angry and hurt.
Sources say the brothers had another fallout during Christmas, the year before Henry and Markle tied the knot. Harry felt that William wasn’t doing enough to welcome Markle into the family.
According to a mutual friend of the princes, “Harry felt William wasn’t rolling out the red carpet for Meghan and told him so. They had a bit of a fall out which was only resolved when Charles stepped in and asked William to make an effort. That’s when the Cambridges invited the Sussexes to spend Christmas with them.”
Harry and Meghan Markle formed a separate household
The young couples decided they needed some space from each other, and they did this by creating separate households. Harry and Markle moved out of Kensington Palace to their new home at Frogmore Cottage, 20 miles outside of London.
Previously, they were set to live in Apartment One of Kensington Palace, right next door to William and Middleton. Most believe this move is due to Harry and Markle wanting to raise their new family further from the spotlight.
Harry and Markle also decided to create a separate court for their family, instead of using the joint office they shared with William and Middleton at Kensington Palace. The move makes sense from a logistical standpoint. William will be king someday, so his family has different expectations and priorities than the Sussexes.
Harry and Markle have less pressure from the royal family, and so are able to focus on their own projects and charities. As the brothers get older, it makes sense that they would grow apart and move in different directions.
Is there a feud between William and Harry?
Although the princes have had disagreements in the past, it seems that now with some space between their families, they are able to get along better. They were close when they were younger, but it’s only natural that as they age, they would go in different directions with their lives.
This happens with most siblings, no matter who the family is. Now that they have separate offices, the families will be able to focus on their own projects, and have less reason to butt heads. They’ll be able to come together peacefully at family occasions, but not have to spend every day together.
Now that they’re both parents, they’ll be able to bond over watching their children grow up together. The disagreements in the past may have left some hurt feelings, but they appear to have moved past them. To say they’re feuding would be too strong of a word. The distance between them is only the natural distance that happens with all adult siblings.
