The British royal family has always been a massive fixture in popular culture. Though they abide by certain royal rules and regulations because they are human beings, royal family members have often found themselves in the midst of scandals.
From Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ tumultuous divorce to Prince Andrew’s ties to late sex-offender, Jefferey Epstein, and more recently, Megxit, the royals have been in the headlines more often than not. There have also been shows and films like The Crown, The King’s Speech, and The Windsors that have highlighted major events in the royal family’s lives.
Now, Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner is about to step into an unlikely royal’s shoes. The British-born actress is about to portray Princess Charlotte for a new HBO Max series.
Princess Charlotte has an outgoing personality
Though she is only 5-years-old, we’ve watched Princess Charlotte grow up in the spotlight. Though her father, Prince William, and older brother Prince George will sit on the throne, Charlotte has been known for her outgoing personality.
“George is more reserved, and Charlotte is more outgoing,” a royal insider shared with People, saying that maybe “because [George is] the heir and one day he might be king. It’s the same difference between William and [his brother]. Harry is much more laid-back, and William is the more serious one because he will be king one day.”
In fact, it appears that Charlotte is the one who takes charge of the Cambridges’ household. British mother Samantha Burge spoke about her 2017 chat with Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. “She said that Charlotte is growing up really fast. She is the one in charge.”
Inside HBO Max’s new series ‘The Prince’
Now, HBO Max is bringing Princess Charlotte to the small-screen in their new animated series, The Prince. The series is set to be a fresh take on the British royal family through the eyes of a 7-year-old.
However, don’t expect The Prince to be something children can watch. The series was created by Family Guy producer, writer, and actor Gary Janetti. The series came to life after Janetti’s hilarious Instagram posts, written from Prince George’s perspective.
The Prince focuses on the royal family from Prince George’s point of view. However, Turner will voice Princess Charlotte. The show will also star Orlando Bloom as Prince Harry, Condola Rashad will voice Meghan Markle, Lucy Punch as Kate Middleton, and Tom Hollander as Prince Philip and Prince Charles. Alan Cumming was voice George’s butler Owen, while Frances de la Tour voices Queen Elizabeth, and Iwan Rheon has been cast as Prince William.
Sadly it doesn’t appear that Prince Louis will have any dialogue, but he will be seen on the series. Originally, the series was slated to be released in May 2020, but the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has delayed it.
The British royal family has mixed feelings about shows and movies based on their lives
The royal family has always had mixed feelings about projects based on their lives. Though many of them enjoy Netflix’s The Crown, Prince Philip, and Prince William reportedly refuse to watch it.
Since The Prince is based on the Cambridge kiddos and is riddled with foul language, we highly doubt the royal family will be rushing to watch it.
