‘Southern Charm’: Are Kathryn Dennis and Danni Baird Still Friends After Season 6?
Since Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel broke up in 2016, things have not been easy for the Southern Charm socialite. She’s been in and out of court ever since, appearing in custody hearings. After failing a court-mandated drug test, Dennis went to rehab and has since come back sober. Meanwhile, Thomas Ravenel was faced with sexual assault allegations and has been booted from the Bravo series. He also started dating someone new, Ashley Jacobs, who remains on the show, much to many cast members’ chagrin.
So it’s no overstatement to say that Kathryn Dennis has probably been under a lot of stress lately. And her closest friend, Danni Baird, believes this may be affecting her behavior. After a couple of tense spats, some fans are wondering if the two will ever be able to repair their friendship — are the pair still friends after Season 6 ends?
Danni calls out Kathryn for going MIA
Danni Baird has been really worried about recent changes in Kathryn Dennis’ behavior. She claims that ever since Dennis started dating Joe Abruzzo, she’s been falling back into some bad habits in her behavior, including falling off of the radar.
So it’s no surprise when Danni Baird gets frustrated when, mere days before a girls’ trip, she can’t seem to get ahold of Dennis. “I’ve been trying to get in touch with Kathryn for like two days and she’s not responding,” said Danni during a phone call with Naomi Olindo. This isn’t the first time Baird has encountered this behavior — it’s reminiscent of the time Dennis went off of her antidepressant and disappeared, so she has cause to be concerned.
This spate of disappearances lead to a confrontation at dinner, where Baird confronted Dennis about her recent behavior. Baird told Dennis that she was back to “self-sabotaging.” Dennis was not pleased. “I’m not self-sabotaging, and I worked really hard to get here, and I don’t like feeling attacked,” she replied.
Baird wasn’t finished with the conversation, however. “You’ve changed in the last month. I feel like your personality has been a little testy and the only thing I can equate it to is that you’re seeing this guy. I know your pattern of behavior, and I know when you start to avoid, avoid, avoid,” she told Dennis.
A kitchen confrontation
With tensions riding high after their dinner confrontation, the two attended a social gathering with their other castmates. Danni Baird and Chelsea Meissner stood in the kitchen doorway, having a conversation about Kathryn Dennis and their recent blowout.
“I haven’t really talked to her since,” Baird tells castmate Chelsea Meissner. “I totally understand, I get it. I freakin’ reamed her.” Meissner tells Baird she’s a good friend, and that Dennis needs her around. Right as Meissner finishes what she’s saying, Dennis rounds the corner.
Sensing that they were talking about her, Dennis steps back out to the living room, clearly angry. Meissner and Baird both try to cajole her into talking with them, but Dennis is not having it. ““I’m not even going here. No, I’m good. No, I didn’t hear anything,” said Dennis.
Baird, clearly getting upset, tells Dennis, “Kathryn, if you can’t have a mature conversation with us, then don’t sit here and be fake as sh*t.”
Danni Baird dishes
In an interview with Decider, Baird reveals that she stands by what she said, and meant all of it. “She was out of line and she knows that we’ve discussed it. I know how her mind works and I know when she gets stressed out and I know how she reacts, but in that circumstance, it falling on me was completely unnecessary and I wasn’t gonna stand for it. If I can’t tell her that and be her true good friend then who is? It will be hard to watch I guess a little bit, but I don’t regret anything that I said,” explained Baird.
It sounds like Baird was doing what she thought was right for Kathryn Dennis at the time, and that perhaps Dennis was later able to acknowledge that fact.
