‘Southern Charm’: How Did Kathryn Dennis Find Out About Thomas Ravenel’s Sexual Assault Arrest?

Thomas Ravenel will not appear on the new season of Southern Charm, but he will still play an important part in the storyline for Season 6. The opening episode featured the cast members hearing about Ravenel’s shocking arrest and revealing how they learned about the news. While most of the reality stars read about the arrest online, Ravenel’s former girlfriend and baby mama, Kathryn Dennis, revealed that he did not even give her a courtesy call the day he was taken into the custody.

How did Kathryn Dennis find out about Ravenel’s arrest?

In the Season 6 premiere of Southern Charm, Dennis revealed exactly how she learned about Ravenel’s sexual assault arrest. According to People, the reality star heard about the charges via the news and was just as blindsided as everyone else. Given how they share two children together, Dennis thought Ravenel could have at least called her to say that their kiddos were okay.

“He didn’t even call me,” Dennis shared. “You would think, he’s the dad, I’m the mom, ‘I just want to let you know I was arrested this morning, but the kids are fine.”

Ravenel and Kathryn Dennis were together for a number of years and share the custody of their daughter, Kensie, 5, and their son, Saint, 3. In the premiere, Dennis revealed that their custody arrangement has not changed in light of the arrest and sexual assault charges.

She did note, however, that the situation will likely change if Ravenel gets any jail time. She also admitted to having mixed feelings about what happened. Ravenel has denied the allegations and hopes to prove his innocence in court.

Dennis has trouble processing Ravenel’s arrest

Later in the episode, the entire cast of Southern Charm enjoyed a dinner at Eliza Limehouse’s estate. At one point in the party, Ravenel’s name was brought up, which caused Dennis to exit the room.

Kathryn Dennis later revealed that she took issue with Limehouse mentioning Ravenel because of her close ties to his most recent girlfriend, Ashley Jacobs. Dennis also accused Limehouse of spreading rumors about her to destroy her bid to win full custody of her two children.

Austen Kroll and Shep Rose later told Limehouse why Dennis walked out of the party. Limehouse was then determined to make things right, though Dennis never gave her the opportunity. In fact, when Limehouse attempted to apologize, Dennis claimed that she had no idea what she was talking about and abruptly left. We do not know if the two ladies will ever work out their differences, but they are definitely off on the wrong foot.

Kathryn Dennis gets out of Ravenel’s shadow on ‘Southern Charm’

With Ravenel no longer welcome on the show, Dennis is looking forward to breaking out of her shell on Southern Charm. In a recent interview, Dennis admitted that it is nice starting a new chapter now that she is out of Ravenel’s shadow. Without Ravenel hanging around, Dennis is looking forward to showing fans a new side of herself as she continues on her journey of self-discovery.

Over the past few seasons, fans have watched Dennis regain her sobriety after a stint in rehab in 2016. At the time, Dennis had lost custody of her children and was forced to enter a drug treatment program after testing positive for illegal substances.

Kathryn Dennis has since turned her life around and was able to regain custody after proving she could remain sober over an extended period of time. With her custody battle with Ravenel heating up, it will be interesting to see how Dennis reinvents herself this season and beyond.

Bravo boots Ravenel from ‘Southern Charm’

As far as Ravenel is concerned, we probably won’t see much of him on Southern Charm moving forward. Police officers arrested the disgraced reality star this past summer for a reported rape that occurred in 2015. Ravenel has denied any wrongdoing and is awaiting trial. His lawyers have not shown any willingness to take a plea deal, which means the case could drag on for quite some time.

In the meantime, it looks like the drama surrounding Ravenel will remain a topic of conversation on Southern Charm for at least the current season.

Fans can watch Kathryn Dennis in action when new episodes of Southern Charm air Wednesday nights on Bravo.
