‘Southern Charm’: Is Craig Conover Angry About Naomie Olindo’s New Boyfriend?
Southern Charm is no stranger to messy breakups — far from it, in fact. Look no further than Kathryn Dennis’ ongoing custody battle with Thomas Ravenel for a prime example. But, when Craig Conover and Naomie Olindo finally called it off, it seemed to fans and Olindo alike that Conover had managed to eventually move on. Now, Olindo is saying that perhaps that’s not the case. She claims that in recent interactions, she’s learned that Conover has said some nasty things about her and her new boyfriend, Metul Shah.
Why did Craig and Naomie break up?
Craig Conover and Naomie Olindo split up right around the time that Conover had begun to get seriously invested in sewing as a hobby. As a result, many Southern Charm fans expressed concern that Olindo had broken up with Conover for something as simple as a hobby. Sewing is stereotypically viewed as being a feminine activity, unfortunately, and so fans wondered if perhaps Olindo wasn’t happy to have a boyfriend who sews.
Olindo was eager to put those rumors to bed. Naomie told the Daily Dish, “People think, ‘Oh, why can’t you support his sewing?’ It had nothing to do with me not wanting a boyfriend who sews. I don’t care at all about that. Hobbies are important, and I thought it was great.”
However, Olindo did go on to reveal that Conover’s sewing had an impact on their relationship — just not in the way that fans might have expected. “The reason I had a problem with it was Craig is a procrastinator, and he was using sewing as a way to procrastinate doing things that he actually needed to do, you know, important things. … Instead of doing something that he had a deadline on or whatever, he’d just sit and sew all night, not the actual fact that he sewed,” explained Olindo.
Who is Metul Shah?
Now, the Southern Charm star has found love again, this time with Metul Shah. Shah is a Charleston-based anesthesiologist who Olindo started dating in April 2018. That means the couple has been going strong for over a year now — but fans have noticed that Shah hasn’t appeared very much on Southern Charm. According to Olindo, there’s a reason for that.
“Putting your relationship on TV can be very toxic, and it’s very scary, because it opens up criticism to other people, and people can just say whatever,” said Olindo. “Metul and I had a really good understanding before of how things were going to be, and how we were going to take it if anything was criticized, but he’s got very thick skin, too.”
Since they started dating, the two have shared numerous funny photos on Instagram, and it seems as if they’re truly happy together. Olindo captioned a photo of Shah holding a baby, “Babies like him better than me. Kids like him better than me. Adults like him better than me. My own family likes him better than me.”
Is Craig talking behind their backs?
It seems as if Naomie Olindo and Craig Conover aren’t on the same page. Olindo told Entertainment Tonight that she thought the two were on good terms. “I went into the season with Metul thinking everything was fine with Craig. We’re friends, we saw each other out all summer, he would shake Metul’s hand, everything was fine.”
Unfortunately, it seems that might not be the case after all. Olindo went on to add, “And then some things came out that Craig had said about me and about Metul that just didn’t add up to how he acted in front of us to our faces, and so that was kind of difficult to deal with.” While she didn’t provide specifics about what Conover said, we may very well find out this season.
Olindo tried to keep an open and understanding mind, however. She said, “There was a time when I was happy [with Craig]. That time is over and I’m with somebody who makes me feel very balanced and just very good and, you know, everything just feels kind of right right now, and I think it might have been hard for Craig to see that, and I tried not to rub it in his face or anything like that.”
