‘Southern Charm’: Kathryn Dennis and Danni Baird’s Friendship Explodes
It has not been an easy time for Kathryn Dennis of Southern Charm fame the last several years. Since her breakup with Thomas Ravenel in 2016, the two socialites have been duking it out in court over custody of their two children. Toss in sexual assault accusations against Ravenel, and you’ve got a recipe for drama and disaster. And with Dennis’ nemesis Ashley Jacobs still on the show, Dennis has had a lot to dodge lately.
At the same time, Kathryn Dennis has been coping with her transition to a sober lifestyle, which isn’t an easy change to make. It seems more than ever the star needs her friends around her as a support network. Unfortunately, it looks like Dennis and once-close friend Danni Baird are having a hard time maintaining their friendship. And it looks like things have just come to an explosive head.
Kathryn Dennis has been going MIA
According to Danni Baird, Kathryn Dennis has been falling back into some bad behavioral habits. Recently, Danni has been very concerned about Kathryn dropping off the radar when they try to get in touch with her.
Just days before leaving for a girls’ trip, Danni Baird can’t get ahold of Kathryn Dennis. “I’ve been trying to get in touch with Kathryn for like two days and she’s not responding,” said Danni during a phone call with Naomi Olindo. Danni was instantly reminded of the time Kathryn Dennis went MIA after stopping her anti-depressant. “She has no accountability for anything,” added Baird.
Naomi Olindo agreed with Danni, adding, “It’s just not normal behavior and she gets a pass every time. At what point is it, you just don’t give a s— about your friends sometimes? There is a line between that, friendship is a two-way street.”
A conversation over dinner
Tensions have been at an all-time high since last week when Baird confronted Kathryn Dennis over her disappearance. Suffice it to say that the conversation did not go well, and Dennis felt attacked and misunderstood. Baird told Dennis that she felt as if Dennis is “self-sabotaging.”
Dennis fired back, “I’m not self-sabotaging, and I worked really hard to get here, and I don’t like feeling attacked.”
Baird went on to tell Dennis that her behavior has changed for the worse lately. “You’ve changed in the last month. I feel like your personality has been a little testy and the only thing I can equate it to is that you’re seeing this guy. I know your pattern of behavior, and I know when you start to avoid, avoid, avoid.”
An accidental confrontation
Since the dinner conversation, things have not improved, and that’s never been more visible than during an interaction Kathryn Dennis had with Danni Baird at a gathering.
Baird was having a conversation with fellow castmate Chelsea Meissner, telling her, “I haven’t really talked to her since.” Baird goes on to tell Meissner, “I totally understand, I get it. I freakin’ reamed her.”
“So you’re a good friend, and I know she needs you,” replied Meissner.
Right as Meissner finishes what she’s saying, Kathryn Dennis rounds the corner in the kitchen and asks them what they’re talking about. Not good timing. “We were talking about our trip,” says Meissner.
Dennis isn’t buying it and steps back out into the living room. Meissner follows her and tries to make amends, telling her, “There was nothing bad said at all. It was nothing but good things. I don’t know why you would be upset.”
Baird asks Dennis to chat, and Dennis replies, “I’m not even going here. No, I’m good. No, I didn’t hear anything.”
Baird starts getting upset, and cuts in, “Kathryn, if you can’t have a mature conversation with us, then don’t sit here and be fake as sh*t.” Shep interjects, saying he thought the two were friends.
Baird replies with, “I’ve actually been a really good friend to her.”
Dennis shoots back, “I’ve been a great f—— friend to you too, so f— off right now. I’m not even talking,”
