‘Southern Charm’: Kathryn Dennis’ Latest Legal Trouble May Be Just What Thomas Ravenel Wants

Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis recently caused a multi-car wreck in South Carolina, and it happened just a few days after she was in another car accident with her children. According to the Mount Pleasant, South Carolina police, on August 28th Dennis rear-ended a stopped car which caused a four-car train reaction and she received a citation for “careless driving.” After a tumultuous custody battle with her ex Thomas Ravenel, her latest wreck might be just what he needs to regain custody of their two children.

Kathryn Dennis’ second accident in August

Dennis was driving a rented Jeep SUV on Highway 141, and once again both Kensie, 5, and Saint, 3, were with her. She was apparently following too close behind the vehicle in front of her, and she ended up hitting the car when it stopped in front of her. The Southern Charm star was reportedly traveling 18 MPH.

The accident caused the airbags to deploy in both Dennis’ vehicle and in the vehicle she hit, and police concluded that the 28-year-old was at fault. Dennis was in another accident on August 4th when she struck a guardrail, three trees, and two light poles before stopping in oncoming traffic. She claimed that her children distracted her, and that is what caused the accident.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported in either accident.

Ravenel’s plans to regain custody

Although the estranged couple reached a custody agreement on August 12 – which still gave former Southern Charm star Thomas Ravenel “primary legal custody” of the children – the new agreement gave Dennis lots more unsupervised time with their children.

Now with her latest accident, Ravenel insiders claim this is exactly what he wants and is planning on using it to regain full custody.

“Thomas is weighing his options, and believes he can use the car accidents in his favor,” an insider told Radar Online.

“He wants full custody of the children, and has always said that they were in better hands when they are with him.”

Ravenel considers the second accident with the kids in the car a red flag.

“Thomas has always said he is going to fight for his children, and these accidents are giving him the upper hand,” the insider continued.

Kathryn Dennis has not responded to Thomas Ravenel’s insider’s claim since news of her second accident broke.

Before season 6 of Southern Charm, Ravenel sued Dennis, Bravo, and the production company to keep his kids off the air. They were not seen last season, but Dennis spoke of them constantly.

Kathryn Dennis is back on the market

In other Kathryn Dennis news, an insider is claiming that the Southern Charm star has broken up with her boyfriend of seven months, former America’s Got Talent contestant Hunter Price.

“Kathryn is not engaged to anyone but herself. She and Hunter actually split about two weeks ago,” a source told PEOPLE magazine. “Their relationship ran its course. Kathryn is doing well, and staying focused on the kids.”

The surprising split comes just after Dennis sparked engagement rumors when she posted a pic on Instagram the day after the Season 6 reunion aired that featured her wearing a diamond ring on her left ring finger.

Fans immediately started asking if Dennis was engaged, but she never responded to the comments.

Kathryn Dennis and Price went Instagram official in January with a sweet black and white picture of the two and a simple black heart emoji in the caption. At the time, Dennis called Price her “person,” and he appeared in numerous pics and videos on her Instagram throughout the spring and summer.

Price also made an appearance in the season finale of Southern Charm when he accompanied Dennis to a cocktail party.

New episodes of Southern Charm will likely return to Bravo in the spring of 2020.
